Leave a CommentGot an email from this greaser today after I had the operator at work dump him into the black hole voice mail. Here's his info if you'd like to chat:Marco Loiacono Account Manager COMODO Direct: 201-716-4796 E-Mail: [email protected]
One of our clients who has an SSL certificate due to expire got this call. I called back, they verified the domain name and explained that they were from Comodo (not the company handling the old certificate.) So basically Comodo goes through WHOIS records and searches for certificates that are due to expire and solicits business. The person I talked to was however fairly clear that they were offering "a better deal" i.e. not pretending to be the current certification authority. However it took a while before they stated what company they were with (initially the call was answered with a non-descript "hello.")
"Tom" called and left a message from 201-716-4468 but listed his callback # as same but with -4771 at end. I knew he was bs'ing because the secure domain he cited, which I maintain, doesn't expire till late 2011.
just got a call this am.. no voice mail.. my ssl is handled via my hosting company.. sorry Comodo.. .no sale here!
I've talked to them It is comodo. Fine comodo, we get it... stop calling. They are like telemarketers.
Receive AGGRESSIVE sales calls from Comodo, not sure if it's a SCAM or just a ROTTEN company,..either way they'll never get my business
The phone number belongs to Comodo Lltd who issue SSL certificates under the ***nd names Comodo, PositiveSSL, and InstantSSL.We've never used any of their services or signed up for any of their mailing lists and yet we receive unsolicited sales calls from them. Not only do we receive unsolicited sales calls but we are deluged with SPAM advertising emails from these clowns. This weekend alone we received 31 SPAM emails advertising Comodo's SSL certificates. As a result of their unsolicited telephone sales calls and mass spam I will never do business with them. What I do plan to do is file complaints a***nst them with the FTC (both for their violation of the do not call list and their spam emails), and complaints with the New Jersey State Attorney General and a sepate BBB complaint for each of the 31 spam emails I received.
These guys have called me a few times regarding ssl certs and their expirations. I have not talked with them, but have recently blocked their number from my system.
The guy who called my office said his name was Josh Feldman. I asked the name of the company and he replied "Umph"! So i ***g up on him. I don't tolerate soliciting whatsoever!
I received a call too and I have to wonder if what they are doing is legal. I am in the IT business myself and they flagged one of our websites as not having an SSL for the short 1 day interval when we were restructuring websites. I don't even have SSLs with Comodo (or even gone to their website to check out their SSLs). Somehow they were able to pick up the fact that one of my domains did not have a valid SSL.The person who spoke to me on the phone was also very rude. I am wondering if this practice should be reported to a regulatory agency. This is very su****ious.
Got the same sales pitch - expiring SSL certificate. Total scam.
They keep calling but I am refusing to return and they don't leave messages. Figured if it is important then they will leave a message then.
Just like the companies that send out information or call you to renew your domains, and they are not your SSL or Registrar. Do not call them. Renew on your own with your current registrar or SSL company before it expires. You can always renew early. I do not and will not ever trust emails or phone calls, even if it is from the provider. Do your own research and initiate the purchase yourself.
Calls several times. Does not leave message. Interrupts business calls because it keeps beeping in...
Unprofessional call from a fellow asking who looks after our website security. Call display said "New Jersey 201-716-4468". Said he was from Comodo and our certificate was about to expire. He asked if we took credit card information on our website and wanted to upsell to a higher security certificate but he ***g up after I told him we don't take credit card info. Seemed very su****ious to me.
Just a head up to everyone. I received a call transferred to me this morning. It was from someone who didn’t identify themselves today telling me the SSL certificate on our website was going to expire. He asked who he would talk to about renewing SSL certificates. I said it would be me and he told me the certificate on our website ******X.com is going to expire. I told him that was not our website address (although it was close) and our certificates are not going to expire any time soon. He said he would have to double check his references then ***g up. The call showed up on my caller ID from COMODO from 201-716-4468 I searched online and found similar incidents happening to other people at the website below. http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-201-716-4468
I just received a call from this same number regarding "renewing" our expiring SSL certificate. I let it go to voicemail like I do with most of my unsolicited calls, and it was full of alarmist words about our certificate expiring next month (I renewed it this morning actually).Stick to your regular known companies for renewing your SSL certs and ignore these calls.
got a call from 201 716 4469funny, now they call europe too...
watch out for these guys.
Idiot with a New Jersey accent called me on my Toll-Free 800# number trying to sell a Comodo SSL certificate. I told him I was busy and not interested in anything telemarketer related. He asked if he could call back and s****ed recited my toll-free number to me. I then advised him it was bad form to call a business' toll free number in order to sell so****ing. Then I let the expletives fly. Poor ******* had no reply. I give him credit, though, the only thing remotely negative he said intimated that we were a 'mom & pop' outfit. Extremely unprofessional, amateurish, and boorish. Hey, Comodo, stop calling me on my 800#, personal number, or any number you manage to s****e up. I will never purchase anything from your ***nd....ever!
201 716 4468 SCAMMERS
they called, asked to talk to someone in our IT department, i said 'speaking" and they ***g up.
Calls several times a day. They **** up after 3 - 4 rings so they obviously don't want to talk too badly.
got numerous calls from this number 201-716-4468. I did not pick up hoping they would leave a message but they did not. Checked on web for this number and saw all these comments from people on this site.
Multiple calls coming in from this number. No messages left and no response when answered. Call backs are answered but no talking, music in the background. Either state your business and intent, or stop calling!
The called claming to be a company called comado. Asked for the person in charge of network security reguarding and expiring SSL certificate. When questioned what certificate they were talking about and what it was used for they ***g up. From our security investigation it appears they are blind calling responsible parties for domains. When I called the number back they answered with no company name. When I asked what they did, they said they are a certificate authority. They claimed to be running a call center and that the "lead" information must have been in error. They denied knowing anything about the behavior of calling and ****ing up when questioned, though it seems to be well do***ented on the web.
Disclaimer: I work for a web development company.DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SEMI-SCAM.They've called me a few times. They try to upsell you on a DIFFERENT SSL certificate. It's a scam where they try to get you to buy a "renewal" from them but it's actually a completely different company. Don't fall for this; a couple of our clients have and it's a nightmare to try to explain to the customer that they got taken for a ride.
Repeated calls from 1-201-716-4468. No messages.
Upon my answering, some unintelligible statement was presented (perhaps 10 words) followed by the caller's disconnect.
Comodo SSL marketing -- they are a bit pushy and they mask what there real Caller ID which is a FCC violation.
201-716-4468 ***g up on me today, but yes****ay 201-680-7478 said "certificate is expiring" also... BE WARY!
VERY unprofessional guy called from 201-716-4468, identified himself as representative of Comodo. S****ed off rude and casual like "who's in charge of ssl security over there?" Told him we just signed a year contract so wouldn't be able to make any c****es and that I had to go due to time. He said "well who'd you sign with?" Told him a couple different companies, and that I was running out of time for this phone call. He said "okay, so lemme ask you ask you this; how many credit card transactions you run over there?" I said a***n that I was running out of time, he ***g up halfway through my saying it. Does Comodo do no auditing of their callers? Even for a telemarketer this guy would have seemed rude.
They called me a dozen times despite I'm in ***gary! Why? They seem to advertise this service: http://www.instantssl.com/Seems to be a su****ious business, don't you think so?
Got a call from 2017164468 saying my SSL certificate is expiring
A guy called and asked who was in charge of my server's security. When I told himthe person wasn't in and asked how he got the number, he ****ed up.Probably got the phone number from one of my registered domains.
Multiple calls from this number on my business cell on 11/12/09. Each time I've answered there's been no one there.
tracks to PAETEC COMMUNICATIONS, INCGoogle map places the location to within a very short distance of Comodo's physical location.A phone call to Comodo technical support got an acknowledgment that this is them.It may be unprofessional, but appears to simply be a reminder to renew your SSL.Never contact a phone number that calls YOU about a security key even if they appear legitimate. If you got this type of phone call, call Comodo back after looking up the number yourself. Let them know that the manner of notification was less than professional. They will want to know.
Female from Comodo about our SSL certificate that is about to expire. The voicemail sounded recorded.
Repeated calls from 1-201-716-4468. No messages.
Got a call from 201-716-4468 today.. Male on other end seemed to be faking tone of his voice asked to speak to "the person who handles security for this website" and when told "how may I help you" he ***g up.
received call today, but caller ID said *DRP Station 86640. Left message saying SSL certificate about to expire, call 201-716-4468. Comodo company. No names mentioned. How do they mask caller ID to make it look like an internal call?
