Received a call from this number a few times before, decided to answer it today. Supposedly from the U.S. Grant Department, a division of the U.S. Treasury, giving me $9,000 for being a good citizen, having no criminal record, and paying my taxes. She was hard to understand; the line was staticy and English was not her first language. Obviously a scam! People must fall for this, but its hard to believe. I sometimes like to string them along, which was easy to do. I figure the longer I can keep them on the line, the more annoying I can be to them and as long as they are talking with me, I'm putting a very small dent in their profit margin. Kept her on hold for about 20 minutes while I got my account number...yeah right!I Disconnected the call after the 20 minute hold, and she called right back. She said she'd give me a grant confirmation # and then a phone number to call back to so that I could verify...but not until I shared my information with her, specifically, my account information. Wouldn't give me my name and kept asking me to spell it for her. Eventually she did give me the phone number to call back to; not the same number she called from, and got upset when I still wouldn't give her any information. I called the number, actually while still on the phone with her, and she ***g up. Spoke with a male, he wouldn't give me his name, said he was the "Senior Account Manager". I continued to refuse to give any information, which angered him. I told him to remove my name from his list and do not call me a***n. He said "okay", if I do so****ing for him, and asked me to "kiss" him and threatened me, saying either I give him my information or "kiss" him, or he would not remove me from the call list and would infact harrass me, calling every minute of every day. I ***g on the line a bit longer, he became more and more ridiculous, and I tried to record him but was unsuccessful. BTW: That phone number "Mary" gave for the "Senior Account Manager" was 202-697-9658.

Telemarketer called and, in broken englisk, informs me that he's from the US Federal Govt working for the Grants division. Apparently, I qualified for $9000 in grant money, becasue of my "good standing with the government", to use on anything from education, home repairs, new car, etc. except...I'm not allowed to use the money for drugs, gambling or alcohol

So I remind he that he didn't even ask for my name, and ask how could he possibly know that I qualified for the grant if he doesn't even know who he's talking to. He ***g up.

I was going to ask him where he was from and then continue to talk to him about anything that came up. I have done it before on other Spam calls and it drives them crazy

I just received a call from this number. It was a foreign sounding woman claiming to be with the US. Government...yeah I believe that..and that I was eligible to receive $9000.00 As soon as I made it clear that I knew it was fraud.. she ***g up.

I got a call from this number sayinh that I was chosen to receive $9,000 of federal grant money, money that I'd never have to pay back. As soon as I said well ok, but I won't give u my ssn or my account info, they ***g up.ha

I received the same $9000 federal grant phone call many of you did, from a male with a very thick accent. Troy, your email was incredibly helpful - I have reached out to Sprint's Acceptable Use call center and reported the number. Unfortunately, this appears to have been going on for a while and Sprint hasn't shut their number down yet.

I've been called by (202) 210-0054 several times during the tail-end of March, and a***n today (24 April 2013). As many thousands of people have already experienced, I too was told that I was chosen for a nine-thousand dollar grant from the Federal Government. Each call was essentially the same pitch. Today, I had had enough. I reverse searched the number and discovered that it's a Sprint-Nextel cell phone from the Washington DC area. I contacted Sprint and informed them that one of their customers was using their service to defraud the naive and gullible into giving up their bank account numbers. I also informed the customer service rep that since an active customer of theirs was using their service to defraud people, that Sprint-Nextel has a responsibility to investigate and deal with their service customer. I further explained that if Sprint-Nextel didn't deal with their fraudulent end-user, that the many thousands of people who have either been a victim of their customer (using their service), that there might be grounds for a class-action lawsuit a***nst Sprint-Nextel. I then asked the customer service rep to forward me to their management team. After consulting (someone), the rep. demurred, and referred me to their fraud "website" - [email protected] Don't bother going there. I tried. I couldn't access it without a Sprint account. I was totally ****ed. I then back-doored the rep by googeling "Sprint legal department" and found so****ing useful: https://www.sprint.net/index.php?p=contacts_home That website contained (near the bottom of the page) a promising morsel of information. At the bottom of the page is listed so****ing called Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) Enforcement. I then called the number they had listed which was : 800-232-3458. Their hours are M-F 9am - 6pm EST. In cvase you want to email Sprint-Nextel's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) Enforcement center, you can email them at: [email protected] Let's get these people who are abusing the Sprint-Nextel Acceptable Use Policy by defrauding people using their service. I'm sure that if enough of us contact Sprint-Nextel about illegal activities of one of their customers, they'll do so****ing about shutting them down and turning them over to law-enforcement.

Got a call from this number yes****ay. Guy had a thick Indian accent. Same $9000 story as below. I asked him who he was and how he got my number. He ***g up. I have been registered on donotcall.gov for years. Filing a complaint.

This company has been calling my number for the last year. In February I registered my phone on donotcall.gov. After 31 days of being on the registry I can now file a complaint on calls like these. Register your phone number on donotcall.gov. After 31 days if this happens a***n you can file a complaint. The complaint is then investigated by the Federal Trade Commission. The company can be fined up to 16,000 dollars for each violation they make by calling a number that is registered and even numbers that are not. I got a call from this number April 5th. Just filed my complaint and I'll keep filing complaints each time I get a call. The more complaints the better.

I asked to speak to a manger and he still cursed me out! My husband just walked in and i was telling him what happened and he also got a phone call today from the same number ,with a ladt offering him the money. she said all she needed was his social and bank number to deposit the money! I answered the call and after about 10 minutes of his rant I told him I was a police officer and that this phone call was recorded and traced and that federal agents were on their way to his location as we speak and he would be prosecuted to the fullest extent if the law. Of course none of my story was true but he couldn't **** up fast enough.

It was someone with a foreign accent. He said I was selected for a $9,000 grant from the United States for paying my bills and being a good citizen. Wanted to deposit the money in my bank or on a credit card. Total phishing attack.
