While that is the law, but it should apply to everyone. There is no reason political parties should be allowed to harass people with the telephone.
If you are on the DNC list, that means nothing. Read the fine print on the DNC website. Political/Nonprofit/and body else looking to get money or a vote out of you can call even if you are on the list.
I got a call from (202) 534-3126 to my Google Voice account. The ONLY place that number has ever been used is on my Florida voter registration form. I now get multiple robocall solicitations and also a number of telemarketing calls. No matter, when a robot calls it can't get through the Google Voice menu to my real number (a Vonage number). I get some telemarketers calling there too even though I'm on the Do Not Call register. Which is a nuisance because I'm mostly in Europe and that means they call about 1 am. If it's a human being I get an apology for waking me, but robots never get embarrassed. And usually a loathesome telemarketer who intends to ignore the DNC register will call from India or some other place where the writ of US law runneth not.
Someone running for an elected office in Washington who wanted my vote.
Got another call tonight. This time I let it go to voicemail. This is a political endor*****t call made by Mark Cross, former Chairman of the Florida Republican party, on behalf of candidate Thomas Moulineaux for District 79 in Florida. I'm not a resident or voter of District 79.Email address to contact them and ask to be removed from their lists are at:http://www.thomaschalifoux.com/contact.htm and http://crossforflorida.com/
Just got a call from that number on my cell phone which is on the DNC list so I'm pretty upset. I only answered it because my kids are flying across country today and I thought it was them. It sounded like a recording for a House political candidate but I didn't pay attention to the name because I was so angry to be called on my private cell phone for this! I ***g up.My cell phone number is not advertised anywhere, I only give it to friends and family and as emergency number for my kids' schools, so someone has sold my information, possibly my kid's school since they have also sold his cell phone number to several "educational" providers.
The call I received from 202-534-3126 had a caller ID listed as "VOTER INFO." I didn't answer, but when I returned the call to that number I was greeted with a recorded message that basically stated that if I "I had no interest in their promotions and wanted to be placed on their do not call list...please press one." Regardless of what your caller ID might state, these are telemarketers who need to have their tiny ***ins splattered on the closet wall.
Call came from Washington, D.C. to Kansas at 11:05 hours, CDT on 6-26-10. Call not answered and no message left.Other sites advise that is it an alleged poll taking outfit, but it is an auto call to see if the phone is answered by a human. Rossi
