Leave a CommentYes i recieved a call also and recieved a grant of 7,800 dollers it was fishy at first once then i googled the number and it led me to this website and i realized it was a scam sorry for all you who lost $200 it sounded too good to be true once they mentioned i hada wire them money thats when it got fishy our government is messed up but they wouldnt make you send money to get money
***!! EDWARD's story IS MY story. the same guy called and told me I was getting 7800 dollars from the government and to bring 200 dollars to Western Union Money Transfer and a photo ID and my cell phone to call him back on his number that I wrote down. (202-657-5251) He told me not to disclose this info with anyone not even my family because he told me that I didnt want them claiming my money. He gave me some kind of code, that i also wrote down which was (SRC5891) I didnt feel easy about him because it was kind of rushed, and I had no idea why the government would have someone call with such a heavy accent that I kept asking him to repeat himself, and there was soo much noise in the background, that it was a little unprofessional. But now I know what to do If he calls back.
Carol Brown Just called with a scam from the US Grant department for $7,800. I was told to go to Western Union and make a deposit for $250 that would be returned to me right away apon giving my identification. What a load of ****!
its okay they are being investigated, I am also a victim
This is real f*****d up that people would do anything for money no***ays but that's ok, they can do wrong for so long eventually they will be caught @ I hope they get a sentence in jail that will make them mind. And I really don't wish ppl to jail but they need some act right. Ppl work to hard if they even have a job for a scammer to get it in 2 secs. But part of it is our fault.
IT'S A SCAM!!! DON'T FALL FOR IT!!! I got a call from "UNKNOWN NUMBER", a guy named Alex CRUZ (sounded Indian not Mexican). CRUZ congratulated me in winning a $7,800 grant from the U.S. government. CRUZ Stated that the money could be used for college, car repairs, books, home repair....etc. However, not gambling or any illegal activity like drugs. CRUZ even threw me a "curb ball" by asking me how I would spend it. CRUZ was extremely persistent and told me that if I was to collect the above mentioned sum I needed to deposit $200 into the nearest Western Union. CRUZ also gave me the following information to verify his validity: Badge number SRC5891, address, and TELEPHONE NUMBER (202) 657-5251. The address given was (200 Independence Avenue, Southwest 3H Building, Washington D.C. 20201) this address is real, but not for the Federal Government Grant Department, it belongs to the Health and Human Resources Department. Being cautious and skeptical in such good offer, I looked up the number that they gave me and it took me here. Then I saw everyone else's comments. CRUZ was persistent and asked me if there was a Western Union near my place, I told him "Yes". CRUZ told me the Western Union (WU) process and told me "NOT TO DISCLOSE ANY OF THE INFORMATION OR TRANSACTION TO ANYONE". He told me the same line about 5 times. that's when My RED flag alert activated!!! Everyone needs to know if the government is giving money for free. Why so much SECRECY???? The first instructions were that upon getting to a WU, I call CRUZ back at 202-657-5251 and they would give me the address and the recipient. Then, I am to fill out the form and deposit the money, into an account, after which I give him the 10-digit access code. CRUZ uses the code to verify who I am, then, within 20 minutes, he gives me another 10-digit access code which I use to access my $8,000. "Here's the catch...the 10-digit code that I give him gives him access to my $200 from any Western Union, so he can pull it out, wait the twenty minutes for the cash to clear and for him to CLEAR OUT, then he laughs at me and I never see the $8000 or my $200 a***n". 30 Minutes later, same "UNKNOWN NUMBER" called me wanting to speak with me. The person on the other line sounded like an anglo. He claimed to be Alex CRUZ and was wondering if I was at the WU. I confronted him and called him out on being a scammer, He "backpedal" and****ured me it is not a scam. However, when I told him that I Googled the number 202-657-5251 and that there's no upfront fees for Government grants, CRUZ quickly ****ed up. INFO: Name: Alex CRUZ Badge #: SRC5891 PH: 202-657-5251 Address: 200 Independence Avenue, Southwest HHH Building, Washington D.C. 20201. IIT'S A SCAM, DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!!!
I should've done research!
This is a scam and my ******* fell for it;(
I too just got a call from this indian accent lady, she said her name is Carol Brown, calling from the federal government grant Department. Some people are really ******, well I traced her number to a residential cell phone out of DC. she was offering student grant but in order for me to receive the funds i had to go to western union then she would call me and give me instructions. I got a grant through my college for nursing school not through western union. how ****** do they really think people are....
I got the call just a few min ago and I can tell its not a real call. There is too much background noise and they dont want you to talk to the bank employee which is BS. They are really just trying to take our money. Anyone know how to make it so your number doesnt come up for stuff like that? Because its weird that they knew my name and my phone and phone bill aren't even in my name. How do they decide who to call and where do they get our information?
Just got the same call and was doing research.
i just got the same called and s****ed doing research on it!! too good to be true!
I got the same bogus call...don't do it! The Dept. of Health and Human Services does NOT give out grants via mobile phone numbers!
This number called claiming to say that I had won a government grant from Washington DC. She didnt want to me to communicate with the Western Union employee about the transaction taking place. They wanted me to make a deposit of $200 into an account in India under the name of Sunny Kr and then they wound wend me $7,800 plus the $200 for a total of $8000. Seemed like a total scam.
