After getting several of those calls with about 10 seconds of silence and a ****-up, a lady spoke with me. That particular user of the phone number was attempting to take a political survey - one type of my "highly-hated calls." I found that they are using a "dial-ahead auto-dialer" which calls a number "in hope that" someone from their plant will be available to talk. If no one from there gets on the line, the dialer ****s up after about 10 seconds. In my opinion, this type of behavior is an example of ****able rudeness! I told her that I hate those "dial-ahead" systems; when someone or so****ing calls here, they'd better be ready to talk when I answer the phone. I told her that I would do all that I can to frustrate that system of calling, and that I would not answer her survey unless they can get their act together. I also said that I had already received two calls from that number under their rude dial-ahead system, and I wanted her to refer my complaint to her management. Now I think as we "fight back," we ought to do anything we can WITHOUT BREAKING A LAW to "defeat" those dial-ahead systems. Hopefully, if the people running them hear enough complaints from the persons they annoy, they will revise their system to GUARANTEE that one of their people is available to talk BEFORE dialing a number. That's just plain good manners! If you or someone for you makes a call, then you should be ready to speak on the phone; otherwise, DON'T MAKE THE CALL!
