Leave a CommentI just received a call from this same number 202-684-6461 the very same Guy with the heavy accent that sounded more like Arabian than Indian. I had just 4 days ago submitted an application online for a Grant for College so I thought this was what the call was about. He already had my name and address and he insisted I call this Susan Barry right away. I was actually very amazed because I have never known the Government to work so fast to give anyone what they are asking for. I called this Susan Barry and she verified my info that was given me by the Witch Doctor who called and I intentionally gave her the wrong Claim Number being as I was sitting here at my desk when he called and I googled the number and found this info. She Congratulated me on getting this Grant and I congratulated her on her attempt to Scam an Employee of the State of Florida Attorney Generals Office, which I am not but she sure ***g up awful fast and she will not answer the phone a***n I am still trying.
the very same guy from sounding like he was from india just called me, and as before gave me a confirmation number and referred me to susan berry also at the same number as 202-684-6461 and when I called the woman going by susan asked me to give her my info so she could send the 5000 dollar grant to my account,, i got supicious and googled the number and came across this page, thank god I listened to that little voice in my head LOL.
They called me and just c****ed Susans name to Susan Chow. And the processing fee for the 5000 grant is 190.00 now. There really should be a way to shut them down.
I also received same called ,Please report this number to the policethese are the numbers they are qiving (202)684-6461 and 202-436-9734
I just recieved the same s**t as everyone else.
Just received a call telling me that I had been selected for $5,000 FREE grant, from the government - stated that had been tracking me for the past 6 months and saw I had good credit - wanted to verify information - which was over 6 years old. I told them they evidently hadn't did their tracking very well. Thanks everyone for posting. Please, please don't give bank information to anyone.
LOL!!!!! I almost fall for it cause i have recently filled out an application on line , but then when she(SUSAN) s****ed asking me for acc#.it was obvious it was a SCAM!!!!.so i told her to take $149.00 from the $5000.00 she said it could not process without my deposit..... LOL that make it even WORST .I even told her i am not a resident , and she insist that i qualified ,then i s****ed asking lots of questions like whats the name of your company, where are you located .she said when you have the money call me back and ****up on me.
I just ***g up with this guy. He did the exact same thing. You are right he is a dead giveaway when he asks if you have had a student loan and I tell him yes, He wants to know when I tell him, he tells me it does not matter it has been too long. When I do call this Susan Berry it rings 3 times and then gives a busy signal. Definitely need to beware
Same here but call ***g up on connection
So just got this call on a Sa****ay afternoon after 5 o'clock.... What kind of Government agency works on the weekend?!?! lol Yeah Right!! Not to mention his accent was so heavy i could hardly understand him... Fight on terrorism my a**!
I just received the $5000 grant call also .Just like the others said.He said to contact Susan Barry at 202-684-6461.I was receiving this grant because I paid my taxes on time!Glad I did a search and found this info.
I just got the same call then googled the number and saw your post. I then called them back and asked questions about the grants; when they couldn't answer I told them that the federal government was on to them and that they will be caught soon. I then called the FTC and reported to them all that had happened. While I was on the phone with the FTC they called me back and left a message for me to F&%$ Off. I hope people aren't so ****** to give out their info over the phone.
The person who answred the phone sounded like she was in the bathroom. I purposely called from my Job number and before she could get any further, i let her know that I was calling from work, which is a government agency and any fraud conducted on this line is a federal offense... Needless to say, the call was DISCONNECTED
I received this call as well
Same call as the others have stated. One (possibly Indian) man called from an UNAVAILABLE. He said the govt. was giving me a $5,000 grant, couldn't be used on illegal things, etc. etc. But having heard his rehe****d lines through his intro I immediately caught on to the "I work for the US govt." I played his games and when he gave me a confirmation code and the other person's number to call, a "Susan", I gave her the wrong confirmation code intentionally at which time she proceeded to congratulate me on my $5,000 grant. Totally bogus. I said "Put it in the mail." And she said they could not do that, panicked and ***g up. I've been calling back for the passed hour, every time they disconnect my call - I call a***n. I hope this annoys them out of calling other people.
SCAM!! SCAM!! SCAM!! As soon as I asked him which government agency he worked for, he panicked. Should know that any intelligent person would want to know who they work for if they work for the "US government."
Recieved a call from this number with the same as you others posted. A man with an accent sounded like india. He asked to speake to my daughter at which I told him she wasnt home. he then proceeded to tell me the same as you others and gave me this number and said she was to call and ask for his account department manager named Susan Berry or Perry. He didnt want me to question him to much. Stated that the money couldnt be used illegally. that it had to be used for home repairs or to pay off loans. Also stated that the qualifications for this so called grant was that you couldnt have any student loans nor could you have ever applied for any. This was a dead giveaway because my daughter had applied for a pell grant.
Yea I just received that call from them! This is pretty ******.. It's obviously a scam!
Scam caller targeting people on public information lists. Students, people in debt, etc. Beware. Never ever give a stranger banking info, ssn, or other identifiers. Always remember that nothing is free and if an offer seems to good to be true it is. Scammers play on peoples greed (desire for so****ing unearned) and usually get away with their scam and your money.
I received a call from an 'unknown' number and the man stated that I had been chosen to receive a $5000 tax free pell grant. He gave me all the info, verifed my name, address and phone number then gave me a confirmation code and phone number to call back and speak with his supervisor to confirm. When I called the number back (202) 684-6461 "Susan' answered the phone and put me on hold. When she came back she verified my info and THEN asked for a bank acct or credit card info so that she could wire the $$ to me. I asked if she could just send the check in the mail.....lol She said they could not sent the check in the mail and asked a***n for my bank acct or cc info. I said 'No thanks' and ***g up. Hopefully no one is giving out their personal bank or CC # to these ppl. IT"S OBVIOUSLY A SCAM!!!!!!
