Leave a CommentHolly, I wouldn't pay anything. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They have an F rating on their site and over 100 complaints towards them. If they try to collect anything else, we are going to get our attorney involved.
We were contacted last week about this and actually gave the our cc# thinking we were paying our BellSouth Real YellowPages ad. Well, it was the "American Yellow Pages" and we are having no luck getting out of this. We called Master Card to see if we could dispute it and they said to work with American Yellow Pages. We were successful in getting back in contact with "Jennifer", whom we origianlly gave our cc# to and she is supposed to have the Legal Dept. call us back to give us the recording of us agreeing to this. Does anyone know if we are legally bound to anything legit? The only thing we can think of that we may have agreed to was maybe sending an invoice to us or a free trial. I don't think this is a legit company.
They called our office a few times and I just felt it wasn't on the up and up so asked them to take me off their list... which they didn't and called a***n with the same VERY PUSHY pitch that we're already listed, we're not charging you anything right now, we'll just send you an invoice for a the discounted 2 years for your listing, etc. "Mac" would not give me a phone number nor a website, that alone told me so****ing. They just need you to say you authorize them sending an invoice and since it's a recorded line, that's where they get you. DO NOT AUTHORIZE ANYTHING! If you indeed do have a listing through your local Yellow Pages most likely you're paying it along with your phone bill. Tell them you want to CANCEL your listing and do not ever want to be listed a***n with them. Since it's not a real company and it has nothing to do with the actual Yellow Pages you are losing nothing. If you authorize the listing, you're out $450.
I actually fell for this!! A guy with a thick indian accent called me asking me to update our Yellow Pages listing. I knew that we advertised with the Yellow Pages, so I asked them if we had advertised with them before and the Indian guy (he said his name was Mac) said we were long-time customers. I then receive a invoice for $459.95!! We reported them to the BBB. We're waiting to hear back. I think that they post your info on their website before they even call you. Then when you question whether or not you're a customer of theirs, they direct you to the website and show you how you're listed. There is only one guy that answers the customer service line. He was extremely rude and said there was no way of getting out of it and that we had to pay. I can't believe i was scammed!! Can anyone let me know if they got this resolved?
Yup, these idiots call me, too, every single day. We have no affiliation with them and I repeatedly request to be taken off their list. Today I asked for a Supervisor and he just kept on giving me a sales pitch. When I asked for his company's name and address, he just kept saying, "There isn't one. We're an outbound call center in Northern Asia." They say that they represent "American Yellow Pages" and they want to update our listing with them and they're not telemarketing. We have no such listing with them, never had.
same thing - they call constantly and annoy me and try to say they are going to send an invoice for $400+so****ing and when I keep telling them no, they say they are going to cancel our listing. he gave the website http://www.goamericanyellow.com/ but it doesn't seem legit to me.
Just reported this and another number to the Do Not Call Registry. They each call about 5 times a day. Always when my baby is napping too! So irritating! Hopefully, the DNCR will do soemthing about it~ Obviously I'm not the only one annoyed with it!
They have been calling me two to three times per day for weeks.....
They call my business everyday but as soon as I see it on caller id, I just let the ma****e pick it up. Thank goodness for caller id.
Same as above, except that when I answer no one says anything. I find this very weird, but mostly annoying.
They call every day, but always before I am at the number in question. Can someone who gets a live person on the phone ask for a website? Then we can find out who is making the calls.
I have received several calls from this company claiming to be the "American Yellow Pages." They keep telling me that we are existing customers and they would like to verify our information so it is updated for their next listing -- at a cost of $459!!! When I asked for a supervisor, the caller indicated that he was the supervisor. When I asked for a toll free number to call them back, he said there wasn't one. After continuously interrupting me with his sales pitch, he finally got frustrated with me and ***g up.
I get calls from this number sometimes 3 times a day. Always in the morning and afternoon, and sometimes even at night.I have not been answering for a few weeks, but this morning I decided to see who it was, and answered. As soon as I did, they ***g up. Incredibly annoying. I would love to be able to turn these people in.
The call and let it ring 3 times. Then the auto-dialer ****s up. This is my Cell Phone but the number was a land line business number about 5 years ago! It's been my private cell number since then. The number is on the Do Not Call List and has been since the list was s****ed.
They call all the time! I have asked them to remove our business from their calling list and the caller begins trying to tell me other things quickly and in an accent that I cannot understand. Terribly annoying
I'm getting calls from this number also saying that my yellow pages ad is listed with them. They then ask me if I would like to cancel it. I told them them that I am not listed with them. I then told them to take me off of their call list and ***g up. They have called about three times, once today. I'm sure it's a scam.
The phone ring 2 times and they **** up. I have my business on the do not call list and they still call.
RINGS 4-5 TIMES THEN ****S UP WHEN ANSWER MA****E COMES ONI AM ON A NO CALL LISTTHEY SHOULD NOT BE CALLING ME
They are trying to say that I am listed with them. I told them repeatedly that I am not interested and take me off their phone list. He then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to cancel my listing with them. I said I am not listed with you, I am not interested, take me off your phone list. I then procedeed to tell him that he had violated every telemarketing rule: he heard his 3 no's, I am on a do not call list and if he calls a***n I will turn in his company. He still kept saying "you want to cancel your order" to me. I have no order with this company. This is a scam to get anybody who falls for this scam to give them money!! This is not a legit business and I am going to turn them into the National Fraud Center at: http://www.fraud.org/info/contactnfic.htm I would encourage everybody to do the same thing. This way the fraud center will see that it is happening to other people. One thing that I would suggest is get that website that they want to show you and save the address to turn in as well. (I unfortunately did not give this guy the time of day to show me his website.)
I receive calls from this number at work. The caller identifies themselves( and there has been more than one) as from:"American Yellow Pages".
