I got a call from this number saying that they are a USCIS officer. There is a legal case from their Indian authority in my name that I have not updated my alien number to them. They said your visa is going to be cancelled if I don't take any action. They said it is confidential so I should not say anybody. They asked to pay some penalty for not updating the number ( which later I found is not required as I have a J1 visa). Initially, they asked me to pay an amount of 857$ through western union. I did so. They were constantly over phone with me for more than a hour to guide me through the process of helping me to resolve the issue. Then they said me to pay an amount of 843 $ as address update charge and late fee. At this point I suspected this one to be fishing and I contacted Office of International education, Carnegie Mellon University (where I work). At this point i did not pick up their call from that number (202-738-1465). They tried to call from another number 202-444-4444. Our office of international education confirmed this case to be a fraud. Then thankfully I could cancel the transaction and got the money back from western union. I came to know that if there is any such case than the concerned authority goes thorough proper paper work (not via phone). A***n, checking with Office of international education/ USCIS fraud department will be helpful if some one gets such mail/call.

I too went through the same consequences as Pbhishek and Praveen... I reported to the USCIS fraud department. I would suggest everyone do so. Its scary how they have all our information and can do so****ing bad with that. No. of USCIS fraud department : 1866-347-2423

I went thru the same consequence that Abhisek had. How did they know about the VISA informations? Is there anybody in USCIS who is giving informations?

I had the same issues like others. It was a serious issue. They will make you do the money transfer to India. When you receive this call, tell them to send the informations on written form. Do not disclose any personal informations.

Got a call from this number. They pose as an official from USCIS. They ask for money to be sent through Western Union Money transfer. They have their name as Sean or Jacob. They will say that your alien number has not been updated.

They call me with my OMB no on I94, That was correct then they s****ed saying your Indian address is not mat****g up you need to correct it asap either go to india back and correct it or pay a fee here. Otherwise you will be deported tomarrow. I dont knwo how they have visa information and I94 OMB no, After consulting with my friends and all I came to know this is fraud no. Dont go with them. Got a call from above number stating that i will deported if don't make a wire transfer through Western Union. Also added that i have to do right away.

Fake Call about the person being from the Dept. of Homeland Security claiming you will be deported if you do not provide him the necessary information.
