Leave a Commentgot a e-mail today with the same spark plug story :P
Got the call today from AT&T operator. I s****ed talking to him on AOL instant messenger to s***d up the process. Now the name is Mark Ba****, but the e-mail address is gertba****[email protected] He wanted 750 spark plugs, that he would send a shipping label for to send to his "client in NY" He wanted to use two different Credit Cards. I called both in as possibly stolen. Dan
called to order food and wanted to add $950 for shipping charges, payable through Western union, for the shipping. would not give a CC for the order, which was only $600 for food. Women's name was Clara Carson, e-mail was gertba****[email protected]. This was supposed to be through an AT&T telephone interpretor.
My parents own a BBQ restaurant in Raleigh, NC. My mother called me today to ask me to listen to an email that she got from someone that was hearing impared. The person first contacted her using a relay service. After having trouble with the relay, she asked them to email her with the information on what food they wanted to order for a catering. The email that was sent asked for about $1600 worth of ribs and sides. They also asked that she swipe a credit card for $3400 to pay the difference to a shipper company who would pick the food up. When my mother called me and read the email I immediately knew that it was a scam, having worked for a bank, and seeing this type of stuff everyday. The words used in the email and the way it was written makes it seem as if it is someone who isn't acquainted with the English language. I'm pretty sure it is someone oversees in a foreign country who has s****ed trying to scam catering businesses. She emailed them back telling them that she would need their name, address, and driver's license number. Of course they have yet to respond!Although my parents knew from the beginning that this was a scam, because the person asked to pay other people through Western Union; I'm sure that someone out there has or will fall for this scam. SO BEWARE! The email address that they used was Gert.Ba****@gmail.com. I hope this may come as help for someone in the future.
I own a bbq restaurant and have been receiving many calls from this att relay service, always leaving messages with my servers. Finally, I anwered the call. The att operator relayed that this person named Gert Ba**** wanted to place an order for 300 BBQ sandwiches with a side to be picked up. All of the anwers were ***ue. He kept wanting to pay via credit card. He gave me an email and a phone number. I wanted to send a catering contract and credit card authorization form, and as soon as I asked for that he ***g up. Then, I called the number he gave me to find it was a fax. Wanting to confirm this was a scam, I search the number online and found hotrod's response which confirmed it. Hope this helps someone else! Wish I didn't wasted my time on this sort of thing.
get a call at my bbq restaraunt from an att relay service 800-855-0000 from someone placing an order for 200 bbq sandwhiches this is all relayed so you do not talk to the actual person the number they gave to contact them was 206-202-4378 it was a fax number. Then we proceeded to chat and it was all very ***ue answeres wanted to pay with a credit card then kept adding things he wanted me to do, was going to have a shipper pick these sanwhiches up and take them 3 hours away did not add up.
