Leave a CommentI found this page because LA Times has been calling me every day, multiple times a day. I only subscribed originally because some kid trying to fundraise came to door. A huge mistake - I cannot get them to leave me alone. I did not renew when my original subscription expired and they seriously called me daily for weeks begging me to renew - which I did. The paper goes right in the garbage for me because I read the NY Times. They continued to send me the paper even though the subscription expired and they did not have an active credit card on file. When the daily phone calls began, I called and made it very clear I did not want the paper, and don't want the phone calls. They said I had a balance of just over $3. I said - for what? I didn't authorize renewal, I paid in full for my last subscription, you have my address - I've received no bill, no explanation. The service rep said she'd clear my account and I owed nothing. Well, then I get a call two days later - threatening, angry, intimidating guy literally harassing me for not paying this $3. I'm telling you, this phone call was frightening. I called LAT customer service to complain - very sorry, etc. You'll never get a call a***n. Got another call that day. I call LAT customer service A***N - and a***n, so sorry, you owe nothing, you'll never get a call a***n. They said if I get another phone call from LAT to call the police! Well, guess what, got another call a***n first business day later. I HATE THE LA TIMES!!!
Received two calls this morning, they didn't bother to leave a message so I am not bothering to call them back. They should leave a message instead of trying to call a***n and a***n.
just subscribed to la times. this number calls my cell but doesn't leave messages. from what i read above, this is a credit card issue and they should be having a customer service rep call and leave a call back number.
AUTOMATED VCML LEFT ON MY CELL PHONE STATING THAT MY CREDIT CARD PAYMENT DID NOT GO THROUGH. NO CALL BACK # LEFT. IT IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL TO HAVE A MA****E CALL FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE ISSUES, IF THAT IS THE REAL CASE!
Could be la times......i'm a new subscriber and same 2 calls, holiday weekend and on a sunday morning, no message, nothing.....came on to check....i know my payment went through for one year subscription but they are still calling.
Also just subscribed thru LA Times 800 number, they left message that my credit card number needed to be updated, but when I checked with 800#la times, I realized I hadn't c****ed anything, and the card they had on file should work. they said to disregard the message, is someone trying to scam our credit card numbers from us?
Received the first call at 6.11 pm this evening, No message not prepared to waste my time or money phoning back. If someone wants me badly enough, they will try a***n, if not ***** 'em!
Received about three calls from the verification department at the LA Times. I did not subscribe. So far, I have returned two of the calls to no avail. They call back and leave no message.
I have had the same problem; my card payment went through and they're claiming they're having a problem with the card. Who are these people?
I've received 6 calls from this number so far today and at least as many every day last week but no one has left a message. A coworker told me to Google it and I am so glad this came up. I also just subscribed to the LA Times through third party sales. The calls woke my boyfriend up a few times and he got a little su****ious when it rang and I didn't answer. Urgh.....
Thanks! Mystery solved. I too recently subscribed to the LA Times, and have been getting calls from this number, no messages left.
Ive been receiving these calls off and on for about a week. Never a message on my cell. Also s****ed getting the Times about two/three weeks ago. So glad I found this forum! I've been wondering who that number is. thank you!
Over the last few days I received at least one, sometimes several calls per day from that number on my cell phone.I never answered.
I have been getting this call as well. I just s****ed getting the LA times through frequent flier miles.
Received about three calls from the verification department at the LA Times. Subscribed through a kid selling them door-to-door. So far, I have returned two of the calls to no avail. The call back and leave no message.

I have gotten two calls in a few days from this number, and I too just subscribed to the LA Limes - but through their website. ***?
empty voice mail. i too have just subscribed to LA times.
I received a phone call from this number. It stayed silent for about 4 minutes while it was in my car. I put the speaker on and put my phone on the passenger seat and turned on NPR radio. The caller got a lesson in the Burmese revolution.Loser.
Caller left odd voicemail. After a very long silence (which some voicemail systems might regard as a ****-up and so would disconnect) an automated voice gave details that sounded more like a collection agency (file has been received, 48 hours to make decision, blah, blah). We're not in collections with the LA Times so this may be deliberate misrepresentation.
9/19/07 5:37 pm. Caller left empty voicemail.
9-11-07 at 5:41pm PST. Rang for 2 seconds - no message...

The phone call was to my cell phone at 6:04pm. The voicemail left was empty.
