It was just a blind "Hello, how are you doing", but I have no contacts in that area code, no prior message threads, etc.
Wanted to buy travel trailer. He's located in LA California. Sending certified check?
Wanted to buy our Mercedes. Had it on Craigs List. Said from Claremont, CA. Said was adding extra for shipper and $200 for our trouble...We said, oh here we go, and told him forget it. He sent check anyway. Not educated on US Checks. Bank routing number was in the middle. Account number was only 6 numbers. Check from Wisconsin, mailed from Maryland. Car is $18,500, check was for $22,900.
They wanted to buy my boat.
Same experience, txt from John Sanders to buy sight unseen. Told him I'm not sending any overpayment back, he still sent a cashier's check for 12k from PFFCU via UPS, then suddenly "had to go to Dubai," wanted refund with a money order to James Banish, 521 2nd Ave NW, Fargo ND. Told him the P.O. was closed so he suggested PayPal to Dennis Farnes (his real name) email: [email protected]
Thanks for the info, I won't be available physically to complete the deal due to my busy schedule, but I think we can complete this transaction with trust. So are you fine with cashiers/certified check payment? And I will arrange for it to be picked up after the check clears. I've done many transactions successfully this way without any hassle. Thanks for your time, Sincerely, John Sanders
"I'm interested in your power wheelchair. I can't come in person due to my busy schedule but I believe we can make this transaction in trust." After a few text back and forth says" I'll pay you your asking price plus an extra $300 for holding it for us. I will make arrangements to have it picked up once the check clears. You are to deduct your funds then give the remaining to the "shipper". Scam

Offered to purchase 60,000 car. Was sending a check for that amount, shipping and extra 300 for holding it. Scammer
Person says they're going to send me a check for $9500 without ever seeing the vehicle I'm selling. Person says I will have to give $300 to a shipping company to ship the item. This is a classic example of the 'overpayment scam', do not sell to them.
Trying to buy a car remotely. Did not ask anything, just want to agree on sending some check and ship the car. Definitely scam. Do not engage.

A John Sanders is using this number. He is trying to buy my vehicle sight in-seen. Willing to pay full price. Seems fishy.
