I got a call from a female saying she was a 'Private Investigator' and needed to talk to me about a claim someone had filed a***nst me through her office, left a reference number and I erased the message. I don't answer a call if I don't recognize the number.
This company called my son and said they had issued a restraining order a***nst him and that they were special investigators
I got a call from "Shawn Jones" today saying the same exact stuff, referencing a Household Bank credit card account I had charged off back in 2004 when I was laid off and lost my job. He pulled the same scheme, saying he was calling the client to see what amount they could settle, and I was actually going to settle it for 40% to not worry about it anymore, but when I s****ed asking for straight answers as in which collection agency owns the debt he would not give me a straight answer. He also used the subpoena line with me, and basically he s****ed saying that Mastercard owned the debt. He got very defensive when I s****ed asking questions before paying and then he s****ed raising his voice saying how it was apparent that I was uncooperative and did not want to settle the debt so he is going to proceed with the subpoena. I ***g up. This seems in total violation of the Debt Collection practices act and I am super annoyed especially since it is out of the statute of limitations in California.
