its just someone calling from an inside line at Newton power plant....The reason you cannot return the call is because it goes throug a swithcboad. An employee is using a private line because cell phones dont work around the lake....I know!

GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER - 5 TIMES - I TRIED CALLING IT BACK - WHEN TO NOTHING...VERY STRANGE AND EERIE.  THEN 2X I GOT IT VIA FAX-SAME NUMBER!

My husband received a call from 217.625.6899. The person stated they were calling from Ameren UE to verify a time to disconnect our old service and reconnect our new service. They stated we needed to contact "CJ" at 1.866.992.6619 to make further arrangements. We both called this toll free number and its the Ameren UE construction hot line. And when trying to call the 217 number we hear one ring, a series of clicks and then nothing. This is very su****ious! We contacted Ameren to see if someone had contacted them to shut off our service. Their customer service rep states that they have not been contacted but did take extensive notes and will be mailing us a packet to fully secure our account.

got a call from this number, was calling to say there is no underground natural gas lines in the area i live in since i called to get a dig permit.

i got a call from this number at 1252pm, no voicemail left.

This number called when we were gone & our Caller ID said Ameren. Tried calling it back & it rings twice, sounds like someone picks up then a series of clicks is heard. After that, silence. Ameren is the company we have for our power but why would they be calling us from this number? Our bill is current so our service isn't in danger of being shut off. Must have been a sales call of some sort.

Missed a call from 217-625-6899 on my work cell number. No message left and now (after reading above info) have no interest in validating my number by calling them back.

Calls from this number come from Ameren.  Any calls from the MO or IL facilities use this generic call back number.  You will not be able to return the call.

I live in the 618 area code and this number also called me. Is anyone positive that this is Ameren?

My wife got a call from this number yes****ay during the day.  She works from home.  The caller asked for her by name.....our bill is in both our names.  He identified himself as working for Ameren and apologized for the power outtage ad said that everything should be up and running now.  There was no power outtage.  My wife was working on her computer and would surely have known if the power had failed or even surged.Very su****ious.

I got a call from this # and they left a message. It was Ameren Cilco, our gas/electric company.  They need to come out and c****e my electric meter and that is why they were calling.

We get phone calls every morning at about 1:00- 2:00am. Sometimes will call at about 8:30am also, but this is rare. this is very strange due to the fact that every time we have tried to answer there is no response. We have tried calling them back before with no luck. I read a report that at one occasion there was a man at the other end of the line who knew all kinds of personal information. I have 3 calls from this number.  Two of which i did not answer and no voicemail left.  I amswered the third and it was a man who knew my name, where I banked, my phone carrier and where I recycle my paper.  I tried to call the number back and it seemed to have gone no where.

We received a call from 217-625-6899 on my daughter's phone and she's 13 yr. old.  Why would Ameren be calling a 13 yr. old?

This number keeps calling our cell number about 8 -10 times every night, never leaves message, and the number is unlisted.

I was accepting a fax for a friend from AMEREN UE, and 217-625-6899 is the number that shows on the caller ID. PROBABLY JUST A ROUTING NUMBER.
