I got a message saying that I was a finalist in the Cool Car Cold Cash Giveaway.  I had either won a 2009 Lincoln Navigator, Cash (I think it was $25,000.00), a vacation trip to Mexico, or a 32" flat screen TV.  I called back to the following phone number: 1-888-923-1327, and spoke to a woman named Georgia.  I was to report to an office building in my area at 6pm that evening where myself and the 3 other finalists would be given scratch tickets to see which prize we would be leaving with.  They needed me to bring 2 forms of I.D.: a driver's license and a major credit card.  I don't have credit cards, so I was told that I had to forfeit to a runner up.  I was also told that I needed to have an income of at least $55,000.00 a year in order to "qualify".  (I don't make anywhere near that amount.) I asked why, and I was told that they want to make sure that I would be able to afford the taxes and insurance on the vehicle if that is what I won. Plus, I would be responsible for all taxes on other prizes also.  I'm glad I did a little research before going further!

Caller "Marcia" indicated that I had entered a contest several months ago--Cool Car Cold Cash--that they had sent the do***ents notifying me of my winning status some time ago and that I had not yet returned the do***ents.  Her call was to notify me that I had 48 hours to contact them at 888-923-1327 in order to claim my prize/respond in accordance with the contest rules or that the prize would be forfeited to the runner-up.  I did not recall entering such a contest and when I did a search on the return number I came across a number of reports of the same "contest" offering just using different callers and phone numbers.  I decided not to return the call.
