Dear Everyone, I have just e-mailed the voice recording of this caller to our local Philadelphia ABC6 channel along with a detailed explanation about this rude caller. If you can, please send your e-mails to the same channel and let them know your concerns as well so these guys can be properly investigated. I even told the caller that as he was calling from India, he has no right to call the people of America and behave rudely with them. He also was violating the laws of international code of conduct as far as his rudeness was concerned, but he simply turned more abusive and therefore I decided to take this action. LETS BUST THESE OUT SOURCED *****S ONCE AND FOR ALL. Let me know if you would like a copy of the recording for your local channel as well and please do not forget to record these calls by any means you can. I thought it was an area code from this email I received from a friend:ABOUT AREA CODE: 809 We actually received a call last week from the 809 area code . The woman said 'Hey, this is Karen. Sorry I missed you--get back to us quickly. I Have so****ing important to tell you.' Then she repeated a phone number beginning with 809  . 'We didn't respond' Then this week, we received the following e-mail: Subject: DON'T DIAL AREA CODE   809  ,  284  AND  876 THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T DIAL AREA CODE   809 This one is being distributed all over the US . This is pretty scary, especially given the way they try to get you to call.   Be sure you read this and pass it on.   They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has-been arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc.  In each case, you are told to call the 809 number right away. Since there are so many new area codes these days, people unknowingly return these calls.     If you call from the   US , you will apparently be charged   $2425   per-minute. Or, you'll get a long recorded message. The point is, they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges. Unfortunately, when you get your phone bill, you'll often be charged more than $24,100.00   WHY IT WORKS: The 809  area code is located in the   Dominican Republic . They are not  regulated by the US laws. The charges afterward can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong. Please forward this entire message to your friends, family and colleagues to help them become aware of this scam

Just s****ed getting calls from this number... 3 today alone... as I don't want my minutes burnt up from unsolicited callers and my number is new and private I haven't answered.  I will continue to not answer it.  I concur it is happening on a Monday... Best bet is to not answer it...period.

Theyve called me several times a day asking for Richard. And I repeatedly tell them that I do not know anyone named richard and to stop calling. But they dont. Sigh.

I recieved several calls from this number today. No one was there. Sounds like su****ious iden***y theft!

I have gotten several calls from this #. I didn't know who it was so I called it back and it tells me it an International #. ??? Thats exactly how it come up on my cell.

I received several calls from this number on my  home phone.  The only message I had was in regard to a loan.  It stated that I should hit 0 to confirm my loan so they could send it to my bank.  I had 48 hours to respond.  Needless to say, I didn't respond.  I have not applied for a loan. Today they s****ed calling my cell phone.  I have not given my number to anyone other than family.

THIS CALL IS FROM WARSAW, POLAND. I HAVE HAD CALLS FROM (222)REUNION ISLAND NEAR MADAGASCA. REPORTED IT TO THE GOVERNMENT "DO NOT CALL REGISTRY". I DOUBT THEY CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT OUT OF THE COUNTRY CALLS. I LEAVE MY PHONE OFF, THEN DELETE THE VOICE MAILS. I SUSPECT THESE NUMBERS ARE COMPUTER GENERATED. THE COMPUTER JUST GOES THROUGH AREA CODES NUMERICALLY.

Received a call 7/22 from 1-223-987-5200.  No response when we answered the call. It **** well better not be a "debt collector".  We have impeccable credit ratings and no late/outstanding bills to anyone, never have had any.  Where do these freaks get their ph. numbers?

RECENTLY GOT A NEW PHONE AND NUMBER AND S****ED TO GET CALLS FROM THIS 223 NUMBER THEY ALWAYS ASK FOR MS GATHERING BROWN WHICH I THINK IS A FAKE NAME AND IT IS ALWAY THE SAME FOREIGN MAN THAT CALLS ME. I JUST DON'T ANSWER ANYMORE.

I have been recieving calls from this number, they are trying to collect a debt, however the twist is, they found an ad that I ran on craigslist and e-mailed me several times pretending to be interested in the item I was selling so that I would answer my phone when they called-tricky tricky!!!!!!!!!!

I've recently s****ed to get calls from this #, both on my home and cell #.  I did answer once and got no response after 3*****o's.  Is this one of those #'s where if you answer you get charged $5K??  Who are these people and why do they call and not respond?

was called 5 times today. said they were bill collectors but calling for some one who doesn't live at this number. every time they apologized and said there would be no more calls. we asked for name of caller and company. got co name of appoied(could be applied bank).
