Leave a CommentThis message is being sent to you because of your affiliation with the EANGUS On-Line Community at URL http://www.memberconnections.com/eangus/. SPECIAL ALERT!!! EANGUS has investigated a possible "SCAM" phone solicitation that is taking place. The caller asks for donations to EANGUS. This IS NOT an authorized solicitation by EANGUS. The call originates from this phone number 240-699-8940. No one answers on the number . . . you will just receive a recording and not be able to leave a message. Many state****ociations are listed as donor groups. All state presidents should take whatever precautions necessary through your State Attorney General's office. DO NOT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION TO ANYONE OVER THE PHONE. If contacted, try and get an address to where a donation can be sent and forward this information to the EANGUS National Office ASAP. If you have any questions, contact the EANGUS Executive Director and/or the Chief of Staff at 1-800-234-3264.
'Ray Brown' has called at least 2-3 times a day for the last several months. Initially he called for information about who the owner is, then s****ed asking for him by name, saying he was calling about a 'community service project.' Would never leave a message or tell what organization he was calling on behalf of. The last call he was very rude when I told him that without announcing a company and a specific reason for calling, I could not transfer him to the owner - in fact he told me, "It's none of your business who [the owner] donates his money to!" and ***g up on me. He has been asked not to call on more than one occasion. It took me sometime to track it down, but here's the info:240-699-8940The number originates as a Verizon land line in Adamstown MD, 21704Registered to EANGUS - Enlisted****ociation of the National Guard of the United StatesThis organization can be found online at http://www.memberconnections.com/olc/pub/LCNG/homepage.cgiI did contact Verizon and attempt to report the harassing calls to the Unlawful Call Center - which can be reached at 1-800-257-2969. The rep informed me that non-profits Do Not have to abide by the Do Not Call Registry laws, but are required by law to cease calling if you make such a request when they call. If they do not, your only recourse is to call your state's Attorney General's Office and make a report.Next, I tried to go to the source and called the 800 number for EANGUS only to be greeted by an impatient, unhelpful receptionist. After about five minutes of trying to reason with this woman and having her talk to me like I was speaking Swahili, I ***g up the phone. I then called the President of the organization, a Ret. CSM, to report the issue and promptly received a return call from Chief of Staff/Director of Member Services - Bryan Birch. He****ured me that they did not tolerate that kind of behavior (from the Ray Brown fellow) in the organization. Mr. Birch can be reached at 800-234-3264 ext. 23.It is a shame that someone claiming to represent our military personnel and family members can cast such a shadow on the organization and repeatedly disrespect the wife of an active duty Enlisted soldier (which I am) in the process. I hope this information helps everyone.
Asked me me by name...I said I wasn't there, he said he was on outline only and would try back....
