no caller id shown... did not answer,, no message left... get about one of these every week or so from this area code..

I apparently entered a contest for a Caribbean cruise and won (I never entered). Ignored the call and that was on the voicemail they left me.

It was just a recording about business debt but would rather they didn't call. I hate recordings. I heard just enough to know it was a junk call.

I wonder if this number is****ociated with www.dncremoval.com.  This website is about stopping unwanted phone calls by registering with them.  If you press Contact Us, they do not give a telephone number or address.  They want your name and address instead.  If you click Complaints at the bottom of the screen, the next page will say Not Found.  Interesting.  I cannot find this company on the Better Business Bureau website either.  This number belongs to REMOVAL DNC  Frederick, Maryland 21703-7904.  It is a mobile phone and the phone issuing location is Verizon, Maryland 21703.

240-699-8981 must have some large phone bill. Called me today on my cell phone. I did not answer. Caller ID said Maryland. I'm in Ca***a. I don't know anybody in Maryland. Isn't the cellphone companies being paid to keep your name off of a do not call list! If they call back I'm going to call back on a payphone and have some fun of my own.

Its a SCAM. Says the call is coming from Maryland. As soon as you press 1, the guy will come on and ask for your credit card information so that they can update your card when all they really want is the number. Too bad the world has created losers like these...

Daily and often several times a day from this number. About half the time, there is ***ody there and then I get ***g up on. Have asked at least 10 times to be taken off their call list. Today I asked to speak with a Manager or Supervisor and was asked to hold...then ***g up on.

After daily and often several times daily calls from this number, I listened to the recorded sch***l they gave and said to press 1 to speak to an****ociate.  I did so and asked to be taken off their call list...on at least 10 different occasions.  Today I asked to speak with a Manager or Supervisor and the woman said, "Certainly, one moment please" and then ***g up on me!  VERY annoying.  I get these types of calls from at least 15 different companies everyday and we are on a do not call list.  I even get them through our e-fax! Bad enough dealing with the annoyance of these types of calls all day long..but then you **** up on me?!  I'm on a fact finding mission to find out who these people are...to be continued.

Have gotten many calls from 240-699-8981.  When I say*****o twice there is a guy that says "Sorry Wrong Number and ****s Up" Same thing every time.  ANNOYING!!!

I receive many unsolicited calls. I don't answer any calls at all that either ...don't have a Name and Phone No.  or/and  a Message that makes informational sense to me!!!!!!   These Prey ***ters are hoping that someone will pick up the phone for a number of reasons:  you think it might be a friend,  an important call from someone personally important to you,  your work, perhaps you just ***g up the phone and think you're being called back; whatever the reason, once you realize it's not what you expected....**** UP!!!  They are looking for your 'unguarded moment' AND your CURIOSITY!!!  REMEMBER, these people are making a living doing this...they are being trained by experts that have been successfully gleaning and bilking for a living. Even if YOU CALL BACK, you have given them info. and another opening e.g. Selling your number...AND possibly hooked! into a LONG DISTANCE Scam; you don't even have to say "yes", You have just increased your THEIR chances because you have been tricked into T H E  C A L L.  NEVER PLAY THE ENEMIES' GAME!!!!!!!!!!    Remember this company's sense of humor ...."REMOVAL DNC"; --- "D N C" = DO NOT CALL and "REMOVAL" = SO****ING OF YOURS TO THEMSELVES!

They called and there was no one at the other end.  They've called multiple times and it's become very annoying!

got recording saying that there are a lot of government loans for small biz.Since the number they dialed is a large corporation, they must be robo dialing

called me then I called back and there was no identification of who these people were. They had a recording verifying my number back to me. Sounded they were from the far east

got the call press 1 for ... what ever, (they woke me up) so I figured I would tell them to put me on the do not solicit list.  Had the nerve to tell me no several times.  Told them I would sue if they called a***n.. told me I didn't have a phone number nor a company name so I couldn't do s**t about it!!!! ARRGGG   was for aftermarket auto insurance.

Called, didn't answer, didn't leave message. Caller ID says 240-699-8981. 240 area code is based out of Maryland. I hate feeling there are vultures picking into my life, trying to find a way to peck at it for their advantage, unknown to me. I wish I could stop these types of calls, but there doesn't seem to be.Always afraid, one of my older kids will answer, and will give some type of info, even when I've told them not to.

The number 847-336-6111 just called me with a message about my debit card has been closed.  I called back and a recorded voice stated "if this is about Master Card you have the wrong number"?

I got the call Aug 29, 2009 at 2:30 PM from that same number, and it said on caller id  240-699-8981 , when I answered I said "hello" then a recorded woman's voice said "Sorry about that my mistake."

My wife received a call from this number, they identified themselves as one of my health care providers and told her my credit card had expired.   She wisely told them I would call them back later.  When I called back to am automatic answering device which repeated my number, asking press 1 or 2, then when 1 pressed they repeated my numbser and a voice said "this number is deleated"

Rec'd call tonight on my Sprint/NEXTEL cell phone... left voice mail stating that they were from Sweepstake Promotions and left a voicemail stating that I was a winner in a vehicle sweepstake... and I had won a "major prize" told me to call 800-991-7536.  From reading the previous posts, it is certainly a robodialer looking to scam people for thier personal identification information in order to commit ID theft.  I'm sure if I call the 800 number, they will be asking for my name, DOB, SSN... a few minutes later they called my wife's Sprint/NEXTEL cell phone as well... I answered it this time and got the same message that they left on my voicemail.  Sounds like some robodialer got a hold of the Sprint/NEXTEL phone list for the ***nesville, Florida market...

Called three times this afternoon, no message.

Calls and ****s up. I called back from a blocked id phone and a recorded voice with a foriegn accent - Indian or Phillipine perhaps -states: You are calling from (no sound )number. Press 1 if you want it removed . press 2 if you would like to enter a number to be removed. (from ???). I didn't enter anything and just waited and it says "the number has been removed - Thank you goodbye." Sounds like a scam to get you to accidently off of Do Not Call.

First call was at 1923hrs CDT tonite from 571-261-0012, caller ID showed Removal DNC and then calls from this 240 area code same on caller ID. No msgs left although last called was at 2143. Has anyone heard of a company by this name?

I gor a call from this number and they dont say anything and just **** up. I called the number and a recording comes on to verify the number that you are calling from and press 1 or to enter another number and when you do it just ****s up.what is this all about?
