Please stop the letters and phone calls regarding light bulbs that arrived at my homeBroken. My wife And I tried to explain, we did not order them. We are retired from the Light company and can get FREE bulbs..Please stop!! These calls and letters will be reported to BB Bureau. Several years ago we purchased on a solicitation call some light bulbs we found inferior and overpriced.  We decided the organization was a crooked scam.  A couple of weeks ago I got a box from them which I did not open but marked "Refused--Return to sender and it went off in the"  About a week later I got a bill for $30 which I discarded.  Since then I have been getting daily aggressive calls demanding I pay this bill even after I explained I had sent the unopened box back to them.

They are using numbers 248-292-0869 and  248-292-0872, also. Were very convincing and seemed legitimate. I told them to send me the variety pack of cards 55 for $59.95. Not bad cost per card if they come, but told them I'd send a check after receipt, and now I'm definitely concerned because I don't want to be hounded. We have a private number and when I asked how they got it, they said the****ociation of Disable Veterans, which I used to give to yearly and stopped because we seemed to be continually ****arded with mailings (that is where our money was going...what a waste!)I am NOT going to send a private check as payment if the cards arrive. I will send a certified money order with a notice that this is a FINAL payment terminating our****ociation and that if I receive further communication from them via phone or mail that I will file harassment charges a***nst them. It is unfortunate that these people prey on giving considerate people and deprive the truly needy from receiving donations because of their deceitful solicitations.Beware and do***ent all of your correspondence. They will cease once they know you are serious and mot threatened by their actions.

I had sick children and this number, (248-292-0857) s****ed calling my home at 8 a.m.  After several phone calls, I asked that they not call a***n due to the phone waking and disturbing my sick children.  The male who was calling began yelling and cursing me stating that if I would answer my phone it wouldn't continue ringing.  He then ***g up.  I called the number back and a female answered, who was just as rude and also ***g up on me.My husband made the mistake of purchasing unusable light bulbs from this number years ago on the pretense it was the American Disadvantaged Workers.  He paid an enormous cost for the bulbs.  I will contact the State Attorney's office to file a complaint and any other place that I can find that will accept a complaint.I am a person with a mission.

These people from AHDW will trick you to believe you are donating money.  Then they insist on sending you some free stuff to thank you.  But once you receive that stuff, they will send you a bill asking for payment.  This is a big scam.  If you receive such call or encounter such thing, call your state attorneys office to complain.

We, too, have been getting calls from AHDW.  We were sent two boxes of lightbulbs, all of which were broken.  I'm****uming because we did donate to them last year for the cheapest American flag ever made.  We then recieved a red collection postcard for $100 for those lightbulbs, which we are absolutely not about to pay.  I called the number on the postcard and left a message stating we would not be paying for broken lightbulbs, let alone $100 for them.  They keep calling us, 3-4 times a day, my husband has asked numerous times to be taken off the list.  But yet they still hound us.The number they call us from is (586) 486-2599

they call me from time to time 248-292-0866 was the number from them today. telemarketers should be treated like witches back in the day.

These people sent us lightbulbs in the mail, with a bill for $100.00.  We have also recieved a "collection notice" in the mail for that amount.  We recieve at least 3 calls a day.  Each call from them that I answer, I tell them, they will not be recieving ANY money from us, and to take us off the call list.  They proceed to say they will call back, and **** up on me.  Complete scam.

Has anyone tried to send the goods back that they send you, and if so, did it work?  I saw a comment on another website that they threatened to contact a collection agency.  We were called by them today for the third time - made the mistake of donating the first time.

I have received the same calls from a different number actually, AHDW 248-292-0857, sometimes 4-5 times in a day. We chose to make a donation and received light bulbs made by blind workers- some were broken when they arrived and quit working after a month or so. These lightbulbs were expensive, and we thought that by donating, the calls would stop, we also requested to be taken off the list and the caller ***g up on my husband. I am not sure what their policy is, but I am now receiving the same type of calls from a ****** cancer society charity that has also ***g up rudely when asked to be taken off the list. In this economy, many people simply cannot afford to be donating and will choose not to do it all if these businesses operate this way. I have requested a report from the BBB on the AHDW and no longer answer the phone when I see their number.

I worked for that organization for about two to three weeks, then quite, because there a scam. There was only one person who worked for them that is truly disabled and needed****istance to even perform the calls. The organization is located at 138 N. Saginaw in Pontiac, Michigan 48342. At one time they were hiring people who were in the work release program for the oa****d county jail, and the manager at the time was having the workers sent back to jail and them cashing their checks fraudulently. He was arrested over this, and is no longer working for the company.

CALL YOUR STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL AND REPORT THIS.

I just recently s****ed getting calls from this company... I don't answer it ever.. the last time they called I made my husband answer it and he asked if he could take a msg and the woman on the other end said "Just tell her Melissa called" I told my husband I have no idea who Melissa is... I don't even know anyone by that name that would be calling me...

I am still getting phone calls from AHDW!  I don't know why they waste time recalling and recalling people. They will never get a cent from me. They should be smart and use that time trying to snow other new people. These people are totally ignorant. They have called and called and I am blocking their numbers. THE FEDS WILL BE GETTING INVOLVED IN THIS. THEY ARE A NUSENCE TO THE PUBLIC AND SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO JUSTIC. I have been receiving these calls from the AHWD (AMERICAN HANDYCAP WORKERS OF AMERICA)...Unbelievable!! Someone needs to do so****ing about this.  They wanted to send me information on them but instead send some****-holders etc.,  with a bill for $36 so****ing etc.. I sent it back.. They are calling all the time saying I owe them money and they won't stop calling me until I pay it. I informed them that I am going to report them. I get at least one call EVERY day. We have asked to be removed from the calling list. As soon as I mention that I do not want to be on the list, I get ***g up on. From what I can tell from the zip code they are based in Michigan. I am determined to find out the city so I can call the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. Next time they call I will record the conversation and let them know that right off the bat.

Donated to this organization for a number of years, receiving garbage bags, light bulbs, cleaning products, etc.  Callers became aggressive when I told them I was no longer interested in contributing.  Continued to call, despite my request to stop.  Would answer my phone and reply, "I'm sorry, she's not home right now."  One caller told me I was "a liar and I know who you are."  So, I ***g up.  Stopped receiving calls for a while.  Last night receive another.  (Should have paid attention to my caller ID, but I didn't...).  Said, I'm sorry, she's not here.  Caller proceeded to tell me that he would be sending garbage bags and charging to visa card on file.  When I tried to interrupt, he just kept talking over me until I ***g up.  He called back immediately and left message on my phone that the garbage bags were being mailed to my home and $695 was being charged to my credit card.  Called credit card company; no action had been taken on my card.

Lady called today(4-22-09) said I gave to the organiztion last year. I didnt remember so I gave her my credit card and told them that I would donate $25 to help the handicap.

calls 4 to 5 times aday.. gave money once big mistake..last straw when caller was very rude to me...tried to get ahold of the company with no luck... these people ****.. i want to complain... who do i call...

I got a call from this number.  We are a no call state, and when I asked, "Please remove me from this list," the response was: "What list?"The other irony is that he addressed me by my ex-wife's husband's name!

I recieved a few missed calls from this number in the last week. I called back twice now and left a message telling them not to call my number back because I don't know the place. And I still recieved calls.

Just got randomly called at work. Luckily, I don't deal with the public at work, so I can pretty much let anything ring thru to voice mail if I don't recognize the number. It left no message.

I have received several cals from this number in the last 2 days.  No matter how quick i answer the phone it ****s up.  I would like to have this person charged with hassrament!!

ADHW has consistently called every 6 months for nearly 2 years.  Each time I asked to be removed from the list as I am on the national do not call registry.  I have been told they are considered more of a charity this the national registry does not apply to them.  I have spoken to a supervisor more than once and have been told it will be taken care of yet, once a***n, 7 calls today and I picked up the phone asking them to take me off the list.  I can not get any information on the company address as I would like to report them to the BBB.  If anyone has found that information, please post.

W***ver is calling me has tried to call several times this morning (5/24/08).  I don't know what AHDW stands for.  The caller does not leave a voice mail message.  It's s****ing to get annoying.

I got a call from this number (248 338 9262) today. The guy on the line asked for my mother and said his name was Albert. He has called me from 5 different numbers in 2 days and I'm totally ****ed. He seems a bit stalkerish and never asks about any telemarketing stuff. Like I said his number always c****es and whenever I call back there is a busy tone. I told him once that he had the wrong number four times until I ***g up. I'm seriously ****ed and since he said he would be calling back I most likely am I going to tell him off.

I received a call from this number and the operator, Michael, asked for both my parents by name.  When I informed him that they were not in and I was not interested (nor do I live at this address), he asked me if I don't want to help the handicapped and disabled (in a very sarcastic tone). Realizing he was an obnoxious telemarketer, I said "No" and then his response was "thanks, honey bunny" and ***g up.  I was initally ****ed, so I looked them up.  But after reading everyone's posts, I have to choice but to laugh at this loser who obviously has so little s****s or ability to do anything else, that he has to work for such a pathetic and s***my company.  Then a***n, may be I should feel sorry for him!

Asked for Margret.  When I said there is no Margret here, he told me about his charity and said he would send me the info.  He was very pleasant, so I agreed and gave him my address.  Then he said he would send me some garbage bags.  When I said, Oh please don't, he ***g-up.

Call every year to sell products. Pretends to be a handicapped veteran and states that funds goes to pay for medicines and medical treatments. Managers calls back after the sale and confirms info and she ask for checking or credit card info.

Received several calls over the last few days. Phone rings and noone is there. Today he called and asked me "Is Don Knotts there?" I advised he had the wrong number and he said sorry and ***g up. This guy needs to get a life. When I called back I got a recording asking me if I wanted to by trash bags from the Handicapped workers of America. No Thanks!

I have received a call from 248-338-9262 7 times in 2 days. There is a person on the line asking for someone that I have no idea who they are. These people are so rude. On my caller ID it shows up as AMER Handicapped. I am going to report this to the BBB.

Got a call from the number today.....Real live person, Asked for Carolyn, I said wrong number and he said Sorry to bother you and ***g up.

I got a phone call from this number 4 times one day. I have no idea who it is and its annoying. Hope so****ing can be done about these people calling so much and when you call it back it doesn't exist.
