This is not just a credit agency, it is a scam. Many companies (e.g. smaller online shopping places) sell your personal info, like partial bank #s and addesses. For example, when you go to the bank, the last 4 numbers on printed reciepts appear as **** so that other people can not access your entire bank account number. Some scam artists can get that portion of your account, and masquerade as a collection agency. If you fill in that info for them, voila, they have your bank info. Most people know if they have overdue bills, and if you're certain you don't have anything delinquent, this company is probably out for a quick buck. Many people will settle a $20 account over the phone out of convenience if they can be convinced they're at fault. Like a previous poster said, the agent responded with "you are going to waste a stamp on a ******ll?” They can afford it.A) Never give out personal information. Do not fill in any blanks, or give the last few digits of your bank # or SSN. B) Don't settle. Don't give in to scare tactics. If they s**** name-calling or cursing, **** up. Not even reputable collection agencies will curse you out.C) Ask for anything in writing. They are not legitimate unless they can provide a copy of the bill to you. Any reputable company will be happy to do so.D) Ask to be removed from the list immediately, or they *will* call a***n and a***n.Good luck!
