Leave a CommentLady with thick accent began to argue with me when I told her I believed this was a scam. Told her not to call me back. "I will" was her reply.
Happened this morning. The caller indicated he worked for Microsoft and wanted me to access my computer. When i told him to send me an email or a letter, he went off on a tirade of foul language and heavy breathing. Needless to say, I let him go for about 5 minutes while I made my coffee and he eventually ***g up.

A caller with a thick accent said he was calling from "Windows." They had received error messages from my computer about "bad things" that were downloaded onto my system while I was online. They directed me to various folders on my computer that were tagged with warning and error flags which they claimed were the infected files. These are nothing more than various normal software errors and are in no way harmful to your computer or a sign of a virus. As the call progressed they directed me to a website that offered free software that would allow them remote access to my computer. This would allow them to fix all the "bad things" that had found their way onto my computer. Throughout the call I kept doubting the caller was from "Windows." He spent a great deal of time trying to convince me otherwise and even gave me a second phone number -- 804-435-5332 -- which I could call to verify their iden***y! Finally, bored with the call, I ***g up. After resear****g this scam, I found out they not only want remote access to your computer but they later demand payment for having saved your computer from inevitable doom.
