This Washington State Fraternal Order of Police organization (WA FOP) is a SCAM!! They pretend they are a part of the police department but they're NOT!! They will try to persuade you in to believing that the WA State police officers are in desperate need of monetary support. This is their number: 1-253-275-3604
Received a 10 second call from them as they ***g up when my answering ma****e clicked on. It showed up as Unknown Name and when I called it back (253-275-3604) it was an answering ma****e message with a woman's voice describing the Fraternal Order of Police. I will file a complaint with the No Call List (as they other messages have said) and hopefully they'll take me off their list.
This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Washington State Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.wafop.com. Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests. The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Washington police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.
Totally bogus scam from s**** to finish, if you donate you are enri****g these call center crooks. We see a lot of posts from the people who run this scam on 800notes, because this site educates people about the fact that this is a scam.Ask you local law enforcement officer whether these so-called charities are real! Operations like this are en embarrassment to law enforcement everywhere. they keep getting sued, and keep popping back up under new names with new phone numbers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Tell them to take you off their list (they usually won't) or just ****, but NEVER GIVE THESE CROOKS MONEY ON THE PHONE. Once they have your account number they will drain it for all it's worth. Anybody can register a phony website and s**** a phony charity these days, it's sad. But they cannot steal money from people who know how the SCAM works.http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2009/05/ftc_charity.html#ixzz0NVdJ10Qxhttp://www.consumeraffairs.com/scam_alerts/scam_alerts.htm#ixzz0LA5vSxWI&D
Here is some info from their website. They seem to be an organization which organizes officers to represent their labor interests: The Fraternal Order of Police is the largest law enforcement labor organization in the United States, with more than 300,000 members. This number is for the Fraternal Order of Police. If you have caller ID, they try to disguise the name of the company by showing "WA FOP" on caller ID. If you demand that they remove your number from their caller list, they will do so for about 3 months then will call a***n using a different phone number. This is NOT a ligitimate company as no police agency in the state of Washington will verify the company nor do they support company. You should ALWAYS file a complaint with the DO NOT CALL program if your number is on the FTC list. It is the only way to get this company to stop bothering people.
Our son had taken a call from these callers, and they actually asked for my husband by name. The caller would not give details about why they were calling, but did mention 'police dept'. We spent a couple fretful hours worried about our daughter who lives in this Washington area, thinking so****ing bad had happened.
I just got an email from the actual Fraternal Order of Police confirming the call is legitimately from them. So, yes, this is a solicitation call, but it's not a scam from someone claiming LE connections fraudulently.
I went to the web and typed in "WA FOP" for a Google search and Bing gave me the website for this caller ID. I just called the "800" number (below) and asked to be put on their "Do Not Call List". It was very simple and there was no problem. They have an annual fund raiser and I guess this was the day to do it since it is Veteran's Day. So...no worries.http://wafop.com/Washington State Fraternal Order of Police2839 W. Kennewick Ave. PMB 356Kennewick, WA 99336(800) 644-7207Phone: (509) 736-2079Fax: (509) [email protected]
11/11/2009, 8:40amI just received a call from this number but I did not answer phone. Caller ID said WA FOP. I Google'd the phone number and came up with this blog. Thank you all for your feedback especially Teresa. It helps to know who I am dealing with. I think they have called me before. They seem to have an annual fund raiser. I never have any money to help so I would never be tempted to give them any.
Called this morning at 9:30. Actually had a conversation with the guy, at one point telling him, "You're not listening." I told him I had calls from a similar organization that was a scam and though I wasn't accusing him, I wanted to check out his phone number. He readily gave it to me, though it was different than what caller id showed. He offered to send me a pledge card in the mail so I could 'do everything' off the phone. I ***g up. Caller ID said WA FOP. I've written to the REAL FOP, located in Kennewick--not Auburn, to see if they are legit. I'll report back here if I get an answer.
Just got a call this morning and didn't answer it because Caller ID showed Auburn, WA and no name. They didn't leave a message, either. Glad to know ignoring it was the right decision based on what I see on this page.
Received call at 8:41 PM, asked for wife, by time she got to phone they said thanks and ***g up.I called the number, it did not ring but answered and I heard music and talking in the backround. No response to multiple touch tone pulses... still music in backround. Like they left speaker phone on.Caller ID was WA FPO
They've called twice in the last two days for my husband, and he has not been home to receive the call, so I tell them he is not here, and they **** up. The first caller was a woman, the second caller was a man. Very strange. And they are calling very late in the evening...8:30! How can I stop them from calling a***n??!
they called and asked for the lady of our house, 759pm , and we are with dont call regesty, time to call fcc.?
We've asked them not to call. They're soliciting.
Just received a call from this number. Reverse call back told me it is a land line, but could give me no other information. I did not answer it, as I did not know the number...but it comes up as an Auburn, Wa. landline number. When I called it back on my cell phone a woman answered and said: "Thank you for calling the fraternal order of Police officers". It looks to either be a legitamate Police/Fire department fundraiser, or could be a scam.
I got a call this morning and when my husband ask to leave a message for me the guy ***g up.
I just got a call from this number also. No clue what its about...
Just got a call from this number. Guy asked for me then ***g up. I think it might have to do with a credit scam thing I got in the mail about a few weeks ago. It is the same area code. People saying they were attorneys collecting on behalf of a big name insurance company.
Anyone knows who calls from this phone number?
