Leave a CommentI also just received this call for a local bank which I DO NOT have an account with. I called the bank to inform them and was told that they have received this exact complaint from several people today and they are collecting all information to report to security. I hope that none of their customers fall for this scam- as it did 'seem' to be a valid call- and I am sure there could be people that would unknowingly enter their card number and their bank account be completely cleaned out! Fortunately,NOW if I (or anyone else that reads this) should ever receive a similar call from personal bank - I will know that this could possibly be a scam and to immediately **** up and personally call my bank or number listed on back of card to verify IF there has been any illegal activity!!(I also recognized that this area code was from Western KY area)
I received a call from this number this evening stating that my debt card with vantage credit union was temp. Disabeled and that I could enter my personal info to unlock acct. That directly corresponds with 3 letter I recieved about 3 months ago stating that I had been declined on a car loan by vantage credit union, only I had already received the loan and bought the car through another bank. Not only is this a scam, but it is not a very good one. I hope these idiots get caught and made an example of!
Didn't answer because it was 1:30AM, but heard the end of the recording on the message.
Automated call stating that my Visa card had been temporarily disabled and to press 1 for further instructions. I then callled my bank and noted that this a scam that they are aware of! Be careful with these scammers.
called at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14. Said our Visa credit card number had been de-activated. We don't have a Visa card. They called both of our cell numbers at this time.
Received 3 automated calls from this number last night around 12:40 a.m. saying it was from "Gateway Regional Credit Union" and calling about my Visa debit card, which I don't have. I have received texts from them too. The call is coming from Fulton, KY.
"Your Visa debit card has been temporarily deactivated. To reactivate your card now, please press "1" and you will be immediately redirected to our security department. Thank you."

I just received a call from this number - 11:21am in Alexandria, VA. Similar message except they said they were from the "Arlington Credit Union". I did press 1, but when I heard I was going to need to supply 3 pieces of information (including my account number), I ***g up.Figured it was a scam.
I got two calls from this number. The first time they ***g up as I picked up. The second time I ***g up after getting an automated message from Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union. Johns Hopkins is in Baltimore, so there is no way they would call from a 270 area code.
Just got a call from this number on my cell phone. It was an automated voice saying they were calling from "Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union" and that my Visa debit card had been deactivated. I don't have an account with this credit union, but it said to press 1 to reactivate, so I did just to see what would happen (and to see if I could get more info on this caller). It then asked me to enter my 16-digit account number, so I ***g up. I'll definitely be reporting this to the FTC.
I got a call from this number first at 5:57pm, which I didn't pick up. Got another call at 6:02pm. It was an automated message"Your Visa debit card has been temporarily deactivated. To reactivate your card now, please press "1" and you will be immediately redirected to our security department. Thank you."I ***g up..It's a SCAM!! SCAM!!don't do anything.. they are trying to get you to give them your account details.
Received a call from this number last night, but didn't pick it up. Left no msg, but after reading other posts, I'm sure this is a scam attempt
Called me 3 times this morning. Really annoying at 7am! I didn't answer, and I am glad I didn't. No messages left.
Got a call on this last night. no message, just a missed call.
Got a call this morning at 7:26 AM CST from this number; I blew it off because I don't answer numbers I don't recognize on my cell, and they freaking woke me up! They left me the following voice mail message, which made no sense, as I don't have a Visa debit card:"Your Visa debit card has been temporarily deactivated. To reactivate your card now, please press "1" and you will be immediately redirected to our security department. Thank you."I searched for the name of the caller at http://www.phonenumber.com/reversephone and the only information available was that it was reportedly a land line in Fulton, KY. I live in MN, which doesn't take kindly to interstate scams, but don't really know how to go about reporting this, or what these people were trying to do, exactly... I worry that if I had typed in the "1," I might have unlocked my Blackberry and allowed them to see all of the information stored therein, or worse... does anyone know the nature of this scam? What is the goal? Do they try to solicit personal information if you press "1," or is this an automated thing? I tried calling the number, and got a computer/fax high-pitched whine.
Received a call from this number last night, but didn't pick it up. Left no msg, but after reading other posts, I'm sure this is a scam attempt
Got the same call, from 270-568-1978. The robot voice told me that 'there is an illegal use of my visa credit card and the cad was disabled...' I KNEW is was a phishing phone call, so I **** up.
"Your Visa debit card has been temporarily deactivated. To reactivate your card now, please press "1" and you will be immediately redirected to our security department. Thank you."
They called me saying there was a problem with my credit card and to call this number. I havent used my credit card so I knew it was a phony call or schem.
Checking out Vulcan Furniture's Website, it looks fake. Calling the number they have listed, 410-864-8130, gets you no response and the message is forwarded to a mailbox at 330-242-***0.
Received a call last night at 9:20 p.m. informing me that my debit card has been deactivated and i need to enter my account info to reactivate it. Googling the number, it appears to be a fax number in Kentucky. It sounded like an autodialer.
Yup....same as Al on 27 OCT 2009. Only I went ahead and sent them a fax telling them they are being investigated for fraud.
Received call on cell phone from 270-568-1978.. they regreted having to tell me that my M & T debit card had to be deactivated. Wanted me to "reactivate".... I did no such thing... S C A M !!! Call came into my cellphone from 270-568-1978 while I was at work. I didn't recognize the number so I googled the number and found the number is the fax number to Vulcan Furniture in Maryland and this web site stating it is a scam. I never called the number. When talking with my spouse after work, I learned that they too had received a call on the cell phone from a different originating number but still a scammed number. Guess nothing is safe any more! I even have the cell phones numbers blocked through the national phone registry, wonder if that is how the scammer got my number??
