Any donations or support does not go directly to the DPS - rather we are a private non-profit organization established to support the troopers that join voluntarily and the state troopers as a whole within the state of Texas.THPM can not help you in any dispute, questions or complaints regarding tickets, accidents, etc. If you do have questions, concerns or wish to find out about DPS employment, please contact the Texas DPS directly. In reality, it the caller is misrepresenting his, R. Garcia, message about what the organization does. Complain that the Attorney General of Texas and complain.
Caller wanted to raise funds for the family of DPS Trooper Scott Burns. I just s****ed looking into this to see if it is legitimate or not. Looks like it is not. Trooper Burns died in 2008. I could have sworn the caller implied it just happened and they were trying to raise funds for the family. I'm not saying this family is not in need. Of that I have no idea. If I would give money, it would be directly to a fund run by the DPS for this purpose. Careful out there, folks!
Got a call from the same number. Also said he was from the Highway Patrol and was raising money for fallen officers. I searched this organization on the internet and it appears that they support Highway Patrol museums. I found their annula financial report on the internet and expected to see money going to families of fallen officers. However, the money appears to go primarily for salaries of those who work for this organization. Only one approximately $1500 scholarship was listed. I didn't thoroughly check the financial do***ent but read enough to know that I would never give them any money. I believe that they misrepresent themselves as supporting fallen officers.
Got a call around 2 today. My daughter answered the phone they asked for me.. She went to take a message and they told her it was an emergency and told her they would call back.
Received a call from this number ... caller ID said R. Garcia. Did not answer.
Called and stated he was from TX Hwy Patrol. Made reference to fallen officer. I've been scammed by them before. Told him I was not interested and he ***g up in my face. How rude!
