Leave a Commenttext telling me my atm card now on hold. poor spelling/grammar, probably phishing or malware
Received this text msg @ 9:23 pm. It was all misspelled. Knew it was a scam. Hope no one falls for this. I got this text moments before my friend received the same exact text from the same number! DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS TEXT!!!!
Forgot to mention that my text came from [email protected] which is through Verizon. Check out this website for more information: https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/793780
2/22/14 8:58pm Your ATM card has been put on hold . Call Customer Protection Department end folow the steps to rezolve this issue 1-281-741-0335. Right away I knew this wasn't legit because (1) the spelling errors and (2) my banks would not send me a text, they would call me directly. I found out that this number belongs to the Quality Inn & Suites located in Houston, Texas and that Comcast supplies the number. I filed an online complaint with the FCC and forwarded the message to 7726 (SPAM). I emailed Quality Inn to let them know someone had hacked their number and I might call if I do not receive a response. I'm thinking that if you click on the number within the text to have it dial automatically that it will redirect you to the thief/thieves and let them get access to your phone's information but calling the number directly should not be a problem since it belongs to a legitimate business.
Texted me my ATM card being on hold. Will report to my bank on Monday about this.
