Leave a CommentWow! Nice work. Thanks for taking the time to do this and for informing the rest of us.
Caller ID said "Farrell John" with phone number 301-762-6650 called this afternoon at 2:27PM (eastern) answering ma****e picked up they left no message.I think I've been confusing some people because I recently had just the Who Song "Who Are You" playing as my answering ma****e message. Just that, the chorus bit from the opening credits of CSI. I used to ask nicely if you are a business please leave you company name and phone number bozos like these never do.I think they called yes****ay or maybe even on Sunday. I seem to recall these bozos calling a few months back.It is so tempting to mark this as a "Prank Call"
I have recently moved to MD and new in country. Got a call from this unknown number with Caller ID said "Pol Protection fund". I answered the call and there was a lady who asked for someone else and I said it's a wrong number. Then she said she was calling from police department and said things about how they are protecting community etc.. and said if I am ok to give some donation. She was speaking calmly and was sounding very genuine. So i said ok. She asked for my address and my name. she said she'll mail some forms to me and i will have to return them with the money which i agreed to pay ($15). After ****ing up with her, I thought to see what's this all about. And found this site. and i feel i made a mistake here giving them my real address and name. she didn't ask for money over phone though.. through credit card or anything else. Is there any reason to be watch out for some unknown trouble?
Caller ID says John Farrell. I answered the call and I can hear noises like in a living room. W***ver it was, they ***g up on me when I answered the phone. I am also on Do Not Call list. Doesn't seem to matter.
Called recently. I am on the DNC list and do NOT wish these calls. ID: JOHN FARRELL MD resident
the caller ID came up with the name John Farrell but the area code 301 threw me so I didn't pick up. Now I am glad I didn't.Thank you!
I've read about them and had them. This time I answered the phone "FBI--Los Angeles Bureau". The caller seemed dazed by it. I ***g up.
Just got the call this evening. Had read Dennis' post. I was, unfortunately, not too nice to the caller. How do they get around the DO NOT CALL list, or haven't I added them to it and if so, please let me know how to do it.They took in $6 mil+?!? Barnum was right, too bad it cost that much to prove it in 2008.
Thanks, Dennis for the info. I always get calls from that number, which shows up as John Farrell on the caller ID. He never leaves a message and the address is in****omac, MD, a upscale neighborhood (I grew up in the same neighborhood). At first I thought it might have been someone from my old HS (the 762 extension is from that neighborhood), but they never left a message. Now I know why!
In honor of the many unwanted calls I have received from the Police Protective Fund, even though I keep telling them to stop calling me, I have put together this based on information available at their own web site.If you look at the 2007 IRS Form 990 for the ‘Police Protective Fund’ on their site at:http://www.policeprotectivefund.org/storage/PPF%20%20990%202007.pdf6605 Hollywood Blvd Rm 224Hollywood, CA 90028323-465-5537You will notice that on page 5 of that form the following corporate officers are listed with their compensation:Phil LeConte, CEO is unpaidDavid Dierks, COO is unpaidPaul Kutac, TREAS is unpaidChaplain David Fair, PRES is unpaidThese are outstanding individuals who do this work unpaid (according to the Form 990 for the Police Protective Fund).Of course, if you look at page 17 of the same form you will find that the Police Protective Fund made a grant of $687,182 to the ‘American****ociation of Police Officers’. This is another Non-profit organization that must also file a Form 990.Look at that 2007 IRS Form 990 for the ‘American****ociation of Police Officers’, who by chance, have the same address as the ‘Police Protective Fund’:http://www.americanassociationofpoliceofficer ... 0990%202007.pdfYou will notice that they list on page 5 of the form the following paid corporate officers:Phil LeConte, CEO, $168,000David Dierks, COO, $168,000Paul Kutac, TREAS, $76,775Chaplain David Fair, PRES, $10,407These will be collectively known as the ‘Big Four’.That comes up to $423,182If you go to page 2 of that form you will find that amount listed on line 25a.Now, go down to line 26, which is salaries and wages not shown on lines 25a,b and c. This line is $162,347. Then go to line 28, Employee Benefits not shown on lines 25a – 27, this line is $85,868. Must be nice to get those kind of benefits!!!!432,182 + 162,247 + 85,868 = $671,397The total functional expenses on line 44 is $1,424,443 (including fundraising expenses) and the ‘Professional Fundraising Fees’ listed on line 30 are $597,840.Let’s see…$671,397 + $597,840 = $1,269,237 That leaves just $155,206 for all other expenses for this non-profit organization, and this is about a third of the compensation made to the ‘Big Four’.The ‘Big Four’ of the ‘American****ociation of Police Officers’ would not have been able to pay themselves if it had not been for the grant of $687,182 that was made by ‘Police Protective Fund’ to the ‘American****ociation of Police Officers’ for that year. And yes…the ‘Big Four’ (CEO, COO, PRES and TREAS) of both organizations were the same people!!!!Think about that before you give a dime to the ‘Police Protective Fund’!!!!!!!PS.The following is from the California Attorney General:http://ag.ca.gov/newsalerts/print_release.php?id=1746
Have recieved several calls from this number. Never answered, no message left.
Got the call at 6:05 May 18, 2009they were seeking a donation, but I replied that I never respond to phone solicitations, only written ones. A Google search led to authoritative information -- this organization has a long reputation as worthless:http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/apps/News/press/PR_details.asp?PrID=2536
3017626650Dude called all sweetness and light and ****, hitting me with the guilt, "We've had a number of police die this year in traffic related incidents," then the appealing to the good in me, "...and I urge you to slow down when on the road..." and then asked for money.I suggested he send me some literature. He responded by telling me it would cost $15 to have it sent to me. Choking on laughter, I said, "I don't donate money over the phone like this." As I said "this," he ***g up the phone.I will NEVER offer credit card information to a stranger who calls my home unsolicited. It's just a bad idea.
Calls every night around 8 pm, ****s up..calls a***n and a***n.
I'm just indicating that I live in Maryland to show how widespread this scam is. My phone # is unlisted. How do these scammers get the phone #s?
