Leave a CommentI called JP Morgan about the letter (the same as others above reported) and JP Morgan confirmed that it is legitimate. I sent my W-9 to the email address instead of faxing to this number. I was****ured by JP Morgan that email to @jpmorgan.com is their domain and therefore safe.
The letter said to send w-9 form with personal tax info to claim funds from a settlement
I received a “letter” in the mail, from JP Morgan stating that there had been a data breach settlement for a deceased friend of mine. The letter stated for me to receive the settlement, I needed to submit a W9 Form by the deadline listed. I spent over 10 hours dealing with this and after finding a similar experience posted here, it gave me confirmation. It is a scam.
