Leave a CommentReceieved one phone call from this number, no message left, I'm also a CU alum.
I just got a call from this number on my cell. I don't know why they are calling me as I never went to college in CO and I live in TX.
I get the purpose for calling. However, I am sick of receiving calls and being ***g up on. Repeatedly. On the "Do Not Call" list I go.
I never went to this school...but they keep calling me. This is a new number so, I am wondering if the person who had this number before me went to that school. They call me every night around 8:30 pm Central Time.
Phone rang, I answered, they ***g up. I have been called repeatedly by this number in the past. At least they just ***g up this time!
I agree people should not be hostile, I can't imagine having to deal with grumpy people at dinner time. HOWEVER, I really think CU should re-evaluate who they are calling. I graduated in May of 09... needless to say I dont have a job that has gotten me so financially stable that I have excess money to give to my university. When a CU diploma can get me a great paying job, I will give back... Call me in 10 years....
Do I need to actually answer the call and tell them to remove me from the list, or is there a passive aggressive way to do it? I gave CU tuition for 8 glorious years, they're getting all they're going to get from me.
I know these calls are annoying, but you should really have some sympathy for the students who work there (and all the kids who work there are students, just like you used to be). I was employed by the call center for about a month last summer and it was the most miserable job I ever had. I used to feel almost sick walking into that place for a shift, knowing ahead of time how hostile all the people will be once I get them on the phone. It was truly a crushing experience and you should have compassion for the people who have to work there. Here are three additional things to keep in mind: CU really does need money, particularly since the state's funding of the university is pathetic (Colorado is near the bottom or at the bottom of the list of state funding for higher education--CU gets so****ing like 10 percent of its funding from the state). Moreover, the fact that CU once employed Ward Churchill doesn't mean that you should never give money a***n to an otherwise ***le ins***ution (at least in many respects it's ***le). Yeah, you may not like Ward Churchill, but you shouldn't deprive someone of a scholarship because of this fact (assuming that you can even give in the first place, which may or may not be the case).Secondly, you only need to answer the phone and decline to give money if you want them to stop calling for awhile. Fellow CU Alum, who posted in August of 2008, is right: the calling ma****e****umes your not home when you don't answer and reenters your number into the list of places to call. After the funding period is over (once every six months or year), you'll get called a***n, and if you still can't give, just tell them that and you won't be called for awhile. If you really can't stand the calls, you can be removed from the calling list, which is really easy to do.Third, the center calls for other reasons besides money. The alum****ociation needs to stay in contact with former students to send them a quarterly newsletter. This requires updating addresses and email.
You're a ******.
I am also a CU alum. Gave once - now wish I didn't as they keep calling.
I have recieved calls from this number almost daily for two weeks. Makes sense that it is a U of CO call center... I was a student there... Wish they'd stop
Begging for money to support professors like Ward Churchill.
I got a call from this number a few weeks ago. As a CU Alum from the J-School, they were asking me for $$ for a journalism scholarship.
You should answer the phone and tell them that you cannot or will not give. If you do, they will stop calling. If you just ignore the calls, they will****ume you are not home and keep calling.
This number calls me constantly trying to get me to join the army.If you **** up on them, they will call you back continuously.
I did not answer, but the above explanation is possible, as I am a CU alumnus. I have gotten these calls before, years ago, and they are usually begging for money.
This number is owned by University of Colorado Foundation Call Center, where students call alums. I'm not sure what questions they ask. As I do not answer unknown numbers.
