Leave a CommentI check, and reconcile, my accounts every morning at 5:00am while sipping coffee. Found a "Pending" charge for $4.89. Will be speaking directly with Chase Bank this morning when they open. I will post their comments/actions.
same story here, $1.89 on 4/20 (pothead scam?). I told my bank that saw this along with other pages and they didn't seem to care too much. amazing that someone can get away with this and no one there can stop them.
303-872-7857 IM GAMED.COM appeared on my debit card 4/20 for $4.89 right after a Google check out for a purchase for DVDs from Media Tech Inc. in Englewood Co (also a 303 Area code). Not pointing fingers but it sure is strange. I called Media Tech and they were friendly and concerned about thier customers. No one else reported a problem to them Has anyone else done any business with Google check out or Media Tech Inc.? Bank ****ed the card, now it's 7 to 14 days until I get another. What a pain.
I was charges $1.89 from IM GAMED.COM. Called the number on my card statement and it has been disconnected. Looks like I'll be c****ing my account number. I am going to check all my card statements to make sure they don't get me a***n somewhere else
I recieved a charge of $4.89 on my bank statement. The number was 303-872-7857. Not available. I don't ever play on line games so this is clearly a fraudulent charge. I hope people check their statements for this so this person can be stopped.
They got me too on 4/12/10. Thanks for all your posts. It saved me a lot of time trying to figure out what the charge to my account was.
Got hit with the same charge to my account on 3/31/10. $4.86IM GAMED.COM LLC213-286-4100 COI called the number and got a recorded "The number you have dialed is not correct. Please check the number and dial a***n." Checked to make sure I dialed correctly and I did. These people have taken the time to set up an elaborate ruse.Reported the fraud to my bank, canceled my card and have to wait for a new one. Informed the bank of this page and the fact that it seems to be a wide spread scam and they are sending me paperwork to fill out to have the charge reversed. These con artists are probably making big money with this too. If they hit 100,000 accounts for $4.86-most people won't even catch it until it's too late for them to do anything about it because it's under $5.00.This truly ****ed me off!
This also showed up over the weekend and I called the number on the credit card online tracking page. The voice mail message (very harsh woman's voice) stated the person at the number was not available but to leave a phone number and a message. tThe message I left was to call back or I would contact the bank and report the charge as fraudulent. No call back so I have a new credit card on the way. If I s**** getting garbage calls on my office number, I'll know that they probably sell the phone numbers they get, too.
This is a fraud i have no idea what this is about. They took $4.89 and we don't now how they got our card number.
I received a charge on my bank card for $1.89. IMGamedcom. I called my bank they said that this is a known scam and that they would dispute my charge and cancel my card. What a pain!!!!
I also had a charge on my credit card. It was for $1.89 and the company was listed as IM GAMED COM. When I researched the charge further, the company was named as video amu*****t game supplies with the phone number of 303-872-7857. I called our bank that issued the card and cancelled that card. Very strange indeed.
fortunately, they only have my cel number. I rarely use it so I really don't care if they have it. I do care that they have my credit card number. I'm going to cancel the card tomorrow. The bank offered to issue me a new number when i called them on Sa****ay. At that time I had not read your report or found that others were having the same problem. I appreciate that you posted your experience as it validated mine.
Someone has your credit card number, and now your phone number as well, since you called them. I can't advise you, but I canceled my card. What does your bank say? I would follow their advice, that way they can't blame you if you have more unauthorized charges.
I got the same $4.89 charge this morning. Also the same response when I called the number on my credit card report. I called my bank and they are reversing the charges. I hate to c****e my credit card number but it looks like that's going to be necessary. Any suggestions as to whether I should do that?
I agree. And if you check out the registration of the domain names you find these guys own thousands of other domain names. Why? Maybe so they can keep swit****g the name of their phony company's website to stay under the radar? But if the bank doesn't want to hear about it what can we do? We must be just the tip of the iceberg. If they had a million numbers at $4.89 apiece someone's getting rich. And we all pay for it one way or another.
Interesting about the phone number--my bank was unable to provide one. The number, by the way, leads to "AlterPath Networks" in Denver, Colorado--***uely listed as a computer systems business--I got the same "person unavailable" response last night. (I use a calling card, incidentally, so my calls aren't traceable--it's proven a handy route to go in more ways than one.)As for seriousness--I think we may be looking at a widespread fraud here--one that hopes to stay beneath the radar by making small charges that many, many people won't notice or do anything about. I just happened to be checking on an automatic deposit, and the deposit and this charge were my only activities for the month so far--so it stood out and piqued my curiosity. Otherwise, I'm not sure I'd have noticed it. As for the "widespread" part, the other side of this is that if you're a crook and you just have Kate's card or Rob's card from lifting the numbers at a restaurant, then you try to hit them for so****ing pretty solid before they cancel the card--not enough to raise a red flag on the purchases, but enough to make the theft worth doing. That's what makes me think we might be dealing with a pretty big operation here--the small amounts would only be worth doing if you had a lot of card numbers. So maybe this is about a compromised card-service database rather than individually stolen card numbers.
Actually, my bank gave me the phone number when I called about the charge on my online statement. The bank wanted me to call the vendor, which I did, and I got a voicemail saying the person I was trying to reach was unavailable. I did not leave a message. When I entered imgamed.com into my web browser, I went to a site that is obviously bogus. I would not click on anything there, but there are gaming links, travel links, etc. It gave me the creeps. And now thanks to my bank's advice these people also have my cell phone number because I called them. When I called my bank a***n to dispute the charge and cancel my card they didn't seem interested in all these details. They just said the theives "always seem to stay one step ahead". They gave me back my $4.89, and canceled my card, and that's it. They said if the credit card companies get enough complaints they'll flag the vendor as fraudulent. But the "company" apparently has numerous names and phone numbers. Check out the last several posts on this site under phone number 213-286-4100, s****ing with Alan Brock, 29 Mar 2010. Someone had a $4.89 charge by IM Gamer. If you put imgamer.com into your browser you come to a different website, also obviously bogus. If these people have gone to the trouble of setting up at least two phony websites, it doesn't look like just some small-time scam artist. But I don't know how to get anyone to take it seriously.
Incidentally, the phone number itself was NOT posted on my bank statement--and while I was dealing with the bank over the fraudulent charge, it emerged that in this case there was no phone number****ociated with the supposed vendor. I found your complaint by googling "im gamed," in quotes--but hadn't any information about a phone number.
Precisely the same thing happened to me this afternoon--"IM GAMED.COM LLC DENVER CO POS DEBIT $4.89" appeared on my online account statement at about 1:30 PM Pacific time, April 1. I took the same actions, racking my ***in for so****ing, anything legitimate that it could be. I'll bet within a couple of days this is all over the news...
This number was on my bank statement for a vendor called IM Gamed.com, with a fraudulent charge of $4.89. At first I thought it had so****ing to do with playing backgammon online, but I play on a free site. Seems someone stole my debit card number. I have canceled the card and reported the fraudulent charge to my bank.
