Leave a CommentSpent about $40 on packs of friskies, wet food, litter box, toys, treats, brush and a feeding bowl which i brought along because i dont need it and dont have pets. This person would not answer a phone call, would not call me. Said he was parked close by but would not meet till the money had been delivered by Venmo or Chime. The cat looked like my lost cat but a video I requested revealed it was not my cat. There was a detail I had not given in my post. The lost cat post went to Nextdoor, Pawboost, and Facebook. I called the police who said this is a fairly common scam. Another clue was that he "found" the cat at Chick-Fil-A, which is across several very busy roads 1.6 miles away. Highly unlikely.
This person told me they have my cat. Asked for a close up on face or ears never responded. Asked to FaceTime them and nothing. There initial text was “ hey i think i have your pet, im currently On my way home will respond to your reply once im home.”
Said they found our dog, but wanted money sent on Venmo
Said they found our dog, but wanted money sent on Venmo
Sent a picture of a black cat. Said they bought toys and food and wanted a refund. Wanted to meet at a Walmart and kept insisting that I refund them. And that their spouse needed the money.
Same thing happened to me today. Scam caller. Don't trust anything they say they will extort you and waste your time.
Me too, even had a photo that looked like my cat. After many texts, Venmo came up. I said I had cash and was in driveway- then nothing. How cruel! I really want my cat back!
I received the same text today from this number that others have reported. They have my missing cat and want to meet in person. I even drove to the Walmart and had cash to pay them, but they wanted me to send it using Chime or Venmo. They said they spent money of food, a litter box, toys and treats. When I wanted to see that they had my cat in person they refused saying they would only meet me once the payment had been received. I am in Rocky Mount, NC so it sounds like they are doing this all over the country. I told them they were trying to scam me and if they actually had my cat they would at least show him to me through the car window. They demanded money first. I told them I was leaving and they "liked" my text message. I tried calling the number several times and they would not pick-up and did not have a voicemail set up.
The same thing happened to me. The same script with Walmart, asking for refund, etc. I live in Colorado Springs. I'm wondering if they are doing this locally or if the victims are all over the country.
They said their name and the name of business and tried to get me to buy so****ing
Had the same issue as the other comments. My buddy lost his cat and the caller that "found" it was demanding money. However the pictures they chose were generated before the cat even went missing.
Said exactly what everyone else said “hey I think I found your cat” and asked for a reward for food and toys and I told them I’d pay them at a later date. Then said they’d meet with me and they never showed up and waited over an hour. I kept getting slow responses and then when I looked it up found out that they are scammer. It’s heartbreaking that people do this.
Pretended to have my cat the other day, went to meet this person at Walmart. Tried to duplicate a picture of my cat. Claimed that they bought food and toys so this person kept asking for a refund. I never did Zelle or Chime this person money caught on that this was a scam. It’s heartbreaking that people try to take advantage of someone that is suffering with the loss of a pet
They said they had found my cat
Claim she found my lost dog that I had posted as missing. Was trying to get a reward out of me but we have no money and I certainly would not give her any money other than what she's supposedly spent on dog food and stuff until I got the dog from her. I looked the phone number up on the internet and discovered this is a scam they have pulled often to people with missing cats

Said he found my lost cat and showed a picture that looks very much like him. Wanted to meet at Walmart.
WOW! That's exactly what I was sent. That he thinks he found my pet, meet him a couple of blocks away, sent pictures that looked exactly like my cat and said he wasn't going to give me my cat until I sent him money. Broke my heart
Same as others, "hey i think i have your pet, im currently On my way home will respond to your reply once im home.”
hey i think i have your pet, im currently On my way home will respond to your reply once im home. I told them I hope they get hit by a bus. :)
Said they had my missing pet, asked for "refund", said their spouse used Zelle or Chime. Arranged a bogus meeting at Walmart
Received a call saying he had my cat and to meet him a couple blocks from us. Send a picture of car resembling our cat. Never showed to meet us and then wanted money from us. Scammed.
messaged me after i posted my cat on paw guide, sent a generic pic of an orange cat then stopped answering
“hey i think i have your pet, im currently On my way home will respond to your reply once im home.” Same message as everyone else - will play along
They texted « hey i think i have your pet, im currently On my way home will respond to your reply once im home. ” Then “ My spouse has Zelle and chime so I know im getting my refund back for your pet. “ Scammers

Just another punjabi ******. Ignore, hes a scammer that cant get a real job.
They texted and said they had found our lost cat, we posted on paw post a few days prior, and wants to meet. We asked for pictures and got a very generic unhelpful pic. Then they ended up not showing and we quickly got a phone call from a "vet at the humane society" saying our cat was in critical condition and needed surgery. The number they called from was blocked. Very clear scammer.
That last text left A LOT out. I am trying to get my lost cat back. Received a text from this number saying they have him. They then asked for reward money. I waited at the meeting spot for half an hour and they did not show up nor will they answer my texts now. I believe this person takes other peoples cats and holds them for ransom or sells them elsewhere.
I am looking for my number texted me saying they have my cat that they would meet me so I could relinquish him. For Reward money and when I went to the meeting spot, they did not show up. I think this person is one of those people who finds lost cats and praise on people.
