I just got a call from them. I stopped the girl when she asked if I resided at (enter home address here) and asked her specifically who entered my name in the drawing. She couldn't say because they didn't have that information and rattled off all the major credit card companies. So then I asked her why she needed my address and she said it was so they could send me a registered letter when and if I won and they didn't want to send it to the wrong person. I told her that if they sent a registered letter to the wrong person, it'd be returned and then they would know they needed to call me. So she replied, "So you don't want to give me your address?" and I said, "No I really don't." and she asked, "Then why didn't you say that a long time ago?" and I replied "Because I was trying to find out what you guys are all about." And then after a few seconds of silence she promptly ***g up on me.

I received a similar call today from a different number.  I was told the company was publisher sweepstakes calling because i was the state winner and would be in the next drawing on april 30th. The lady her name was India was very polite and nice.  She explained that because I pay my mastercard or visa on time the cc company put me in this sweepstakes as a way of saying thank you or rewarding me.  Long story short I agreed to parti****te as long as I didnt have to pay anything.  She gave me her number and told me to write a few things down.  Which included the name of 2 magazines and $2.59.  She said someone would call to verify info on a secure recorded line once we concluded the call. The lady who called back was nice as well but couldnt answer my questions stating that it was a federal line and that the rep would have to call me back.  So the rep called me back to break things down a***n.  I was okay with things because she said everything would be mailed in 5 days I decided I would pay for the magazines monthly by money order and I decided since they received my info from the cc company, I would not give any cc number over the phone. Long story short, the lady on the federal line called me back and told me that I would have to either pay for the magazines in one lump sum per year at about $85 or so and that they could not break it up monthly.  I said I cant pay for a year I can pay monthly though.  She ended the call by saying Congratulations, have a nice day.  Im sure this was a scam but they called from 1.662.796.1847

Same exact scenario, different number. These telemarketers are tricky. By the time she got to the money part I was thinking it all sounded pretty fishy (and was happy to finally figure out what this was all about), so I asked her if I could cancel if I decided I didn't like the magazine. She said no, canceling wasn't allowed because they had paid all of the money up front. That was when I ended the call.

This exact scenario happened to me today.  The caller was VERY friendly.  She asked to confirm my address (which she had right) and then asked only 3 other questions: my age (not for my birth date, just my age), my marital status and my job ***le.  She had an explanation for needing this info.  I kept telling her how su****ous I was of this call and she kept****uring me it was legit. This scammer was good! When she asked my marital status and I told her I was a widow, she put me at ease by saying she was also a widow and then we talked about how hard it was, etc.  Thank God when she got to the part of offering some magazine subscription for $3.95 a month, I told her I wasn't interested in anything that was going to cost me money.  She never asked for any credit card info.  She even concluded the call by saying she would pray for me and I told her I would do the same. I said, "God bless you" and she actually said, "God loves you."  I s****ed thinking more about this call and it just didn't sit right so I googled it and found myself here.  I am so glad I didn't give her any personal info. I knew it wasn't legit but she played the "widow card" and I let my guard down, but not enough. How dare she use God's name while trying to scam me!!

Same number called me today, said I was entered by either my bank or credit card, she spoke really fast about the same California vacation scenario, diamond watch, free stuff etc, I could hear all the other telemarketers in the background...hah. She was really friendly and I let her ramble on because the address she had for me was incorrect so I knew not to give her my real one. I was waiting for her to ask me to buy so****ing when she asked me which magazines I would like and I told her "I don't like magazines" and she said fine you're still a contestant and abruptly ***g up. Scammer s*** didn't get me!

Very polite to me, I thought it was a bridal sweepstakes I had entered, so I stayed on the line.  Got transferred to the manager, who was also very polite, we chatted about my upcoming wedding, and then she offered the magazines.  Tried to get my card info, I ***g up. =]They called back, no message, so I turned the phone off.Totally lame.

Same as many others - I received a call claiming to be from "Publishers Sweepstakes" in California.  She said I was a vacation finalist.  When I told her I hadn't entered any contests she told me my "bank or credit card companies" entered on my behalf.  I said that sounded like a total lie/scam.  She ***g up while I was in the middle of asking her exactly what company supposedly entered me in a sweepstakes.

Every Time I try to call this number back I just get a busy signal. I'm not sure who it is but they do not leave a message

Same scenario, i'm a finalist in some contest. I called my bank and credit card and they have never heard of it, they have called me several times. I asked to be taken off their list, and the woman told me I can be taken off her list, but they have several locations around the country and I wouldn't be removed from all the lists. The last time they called I asked why so many people were calling me and she said I must have been entered multiple times which is good luck for me! haha.When I told her my credit card had never heard of the contest she said I could google it. I told her I would look it up and call her back.

I get a missed call from this number probably twice a month for last three or four months.  I never have the opportunity to answer because they call during my work hours...glad I don't answer now.

female called to tell me that I had won things from publishers clearing house ... tried to verify my add. and such! still calling inspite of me requesting to b taken off the list.

I received a call from this number saying I was a finalist in a Dreams Come True Sweepstakes.  I asked who entered me in the sweepstakes and she said that my credit card company entered me since I was a valued customer. The lady said I could win $25,000, a free trip to Australia, and a new car.  I told her that it sounded like a scam and she ***g up on me.

I just got a call from this #... i want people to stop randomly calling me!

A lady called from publishers clearing house stating that I was a finalist in a compe***ion.  She tried to give me a diamond watch (yeah right) and then tried to sell me some magazines.  I called publishers clearing house to confirm that I was a finalist and that the call was a valid attempt from the actual company.  They said they know nothing about the promotion and that the call was a scam.  If you receive further calls from this number don't answer- and certainly don't give your credit card information. (thankfully I declined to buy magazines)

WOW, I was a finalist in a Juicy Fruit contest that 1 of my credit card companies had entered me in.  She didn't know which credit card, just kept repeating I was entered because I was such a good customer.  Barely use them. The winner would be notified by mail said she needed to verify my information.  I told her if a credit card company had entered me they would have my address.  She ***g up.

They called me and said they were from the Publisher's Headquarters. I ***g up, they never called back.

I get call from this number but never talk to them to see what they want.  They are just pests.  Probably doing surveys or so****ing.

also received a weird call from this number, the girl was rude to me and ***g up when I mentioned I had already got a call from Publisher's Headquarters.  They said it was a Dreams Come True Sweepstakes, I was entered by either my bank or credit card company, and I could win one of several prizes on March 31, 2008.  I am begining to believe my cell phone number (even though I am on the do not call list) got sold to telemarketers after I ordered a product advertised on TV (that is a whole other story!)The other number was 310-370-9172, which is also reported on this site for the same thing.  She told me I won a bunch of Magazines and because I was a semi-finalist in the contest.

calls, weekdays...even sa****ay...leaves no message.

I have been getting calls from this number.  Didn't answer it because I knew it was a telemarketing call.  I am on the DNC List and still get calls.  Caller ID said the company was PS.

She said it was a call from Publisher Clearing House.  Asked a lot of weird questions and said my bank or credit card company entered me. (Dont have a credit card)  When she was trying to verify my address she suppliedd me with my boyfriends address (which I have never givin to any such company). When i asked where that address came from she was very rude and anwered with "I don't know a you" and ***g up on me.
