They are attempting to collect on a debt that has already been paid off. The account was from 1998 but they still think they are going to extort money for it. If you get a call or papers from them a written demand for proof that you owe and that the statute of limitations has not run out. also demand in writing that they cease all contact until they provide the proof. send it certified mail with return receipt so they cant deny getting it. then if they call a***n hire a consumer rights attorney and sue the **** out of them
