This number just called me and didn't leave a message. This CANNOT be AMEX as I don't have a card with them.

THIS IS NOT AMEX, IT"S PHISHING - A SCAMWe have been getting calls from this number - supposedly from American Express saying that it was not a marketing call but they needed to speak to us about an urgent matter. We were told to call back at 1-800-592-1160. So, I called back the Amex main number and asked them to check my account. The account was current, in good standing and no fraud issues were reported. I was told that the call might have been made in error, but the representative could not find the 800-592-1160 in the Amex directory. So, I sent a secure email from the Amex website to customer service asking, "What is this about? Is this legitimate or a phishing call of some sort. Please advise."I got the following secure email response on the Amex site:_____________________________________We have checked our records and a***n we could not locate the number in our directory. However, please be****ured that the security of your account is our prime concern. Therefore, I have forwarded this number to our Security Team to investigate so they can look into the matter and ***ody else experiences the same problem. We truly appreciate that you contacted us with the information that can help us with these efforts. Thank you for being a part of the American Express family since 1986.Sincerely, Email Servicing Team American Express Interactive Services
I was in a meeting and did not answer, looked it up and it is AMEX, my account was closed, I have an open balance due by the 8th and yet they call. Pain in the ****TTTTTTT.DON"T GO FOR AMEX EVER.
I get a bunch of Indian people calling my house number and cell through this number. One was trying to get my routing number, last 4 digi of my ssn and claiming to be Amex or from my job. I thought it was odd that he said his names was John Wright when he has a very thick Indian accent. I think it was from my brother putting my cell number into this cash advance scam site that let these scammers know where I work or whatever. These guys are definately lying. Dont give any information over the phone.
336-393-1085 American Express Monday, October 25, 2010 16:22:344 Times TodayI know I need to pay bill, And I will.
They kept calling our business. I told them to take our number off. Last thing I told the guy was to go step on a nail.
Sounds like the SImpsons episode in which Homer ends up annoying all of Springfield with his "Happy Dude" scam, after finding the auto dialer in the trash. On a side note; AMEX is calling me too, on my company cell phone none the less. And I don't even have an AMEX card!
They say they are American Express but I don't think so. I own an American Express card, I always paid on time and I even exc****e secure e-mails with them and they always say to only call the number on the reverse of your card. this must be a phishing intend. Do not release any personal info and in you are in doubt with any other credit card, just ask for their name or ID# and tell them you will call the number in the reverse of your card and you will ask to talk to them. Cheers.
I received 4 calls today. No messages left, no one on the line when I picked up the 4th time. I have an AmEx card but haven't used it in years.
This number has called me 5 times today.
at 8:55 AM on Sept 6 (Labor Day) no message.
This is American Express. They have been calling me at work. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and highly encourage everyone else to do so. I have told them repeatedly since July to not call me at work yet they continue to do so - even though I have made my payments all within a few days of the due date. I know I might be a day or two late but I always contact them to let them know when it will be paid. It is not as if I avoided them. Now they repeatedly call at work - 4 times yes****ay. They cannot legally do this as they have been instructed to not call me at work, but still they continue, but the government will not pursue a class action suit or any other legal action a***nst them unless there are multiple complaints so I suggest if youhave an issue with them, report it to the authorities!
I called AMer Exp and they have no record of having called me, so this may not be them at all... do not give out any info....
This number calls, no reply when you say "hello" and no message. What is the point!
This number called me twice. I answered but there was ***ody there. A reverse number lookup site says it's from Greensboro, NC (where the wrote "SHCOOL" in huge letters on the street to identify a school zone),
They have called me 10 times this morning - the first time there was an automated message (American Express), the other 9 times were a ****-up.
3x a day, and for what?
no data
this number called me 20 times in one day on my house phone and my cell phone
This is American Express - they keep calling my business (I answer the phones here at the office) and they just **** up after a few seconds. I called it back and it rings and rings until a generic voicemail picks up with no name attached (just empty air****e when the part where the name is said).
I get constantly call from this number. They call late at night at my resedense and on my cell all day long.Is this legal?
This is AMEX. They called my cell 17 times today already (3 p.m.) They never leave a message. I finally blocked the # from my cell.
