Got a text saying "hello (my first name)???? Then when I responded saying if I wanted to know who it was I had to add them on yahoo messenger txtflrt52. I called the number and get an automated message saying its a text only number

Same thing here. Used my first name. Not responding. Certain its spam

Got a text from this number "Hi My First Name" texted back "who is this" Freaked me out a little to read that others have got the same thing.

I received a text using my first name also and I have always gone by my middle name. They never responded.

i received a text from this number saying they had not heard from me in a while (they used my first name also). when i said i didn't know who this was they responded "if you wanna know who this is you got to add me on Yahoo messenger, my name is txtflirt742" I have not used yahoo messenger in at least 5 years, and do not have the same phone number as i did then either.
