On Friday, April 8, 2022, we received a text from "Charles" inquiring about "catering services." Over the course of 3 weeks we corresponded with this individual regarding his alleged "7th Anniversary Party." During conversation regarding making his deposit payment online today, May 2, 2022, he asked for information that will allow his credit card information to be input "manually" versus paying online. I insisted that he pay his deposit online. He further asked for "a favor" and asked if we could submit an invoice to him "for his wedding planner" who "did not have capability to take payments online." We agreed and advised him he needed to provide a name and email address for that person for use on the invoice. He supplied us with: "[email protected]" and "Mark Kauffman." Upon verification of the email address, we found that the email address was not valid. After that we also investigated "Charles'" email address of: "[email protected]" and a name of: "Charles Edward", his email address also proved to be bogus. At that time I texted "Charles" back and advised him that we have learned that he has used bogus information in an attempt to ***n access into our finances through fraudulent means and that "we will be contacting law enforcement."
