Claim they’re interested in buying my trailer, and s****ed asking for personal information and was referring me to use a VIN check website.

Be very careful with this guy he calls himself Daniel. Claims he needs the vin report so that he can take the day off to come and pick up you vehicle but all he is doing is gathering all your info

Similar to the other comments mad, he contacted me about a motorcycle I have for sale, and said that he "only had a few days to purchase it" (Red Flag #1), and then asked that I run a motor vehicle report and send it to him, claiming he would reimburse me for it. Don't listen to this guy.

This is a fake (scam) buyer who is phishing for personal financial information. Said name is Daniel. Didn’t have good English once he likely went off script.
