Same scenario as NRA's post - except I had been receiving a magazine on a trial basis which I subsequently canceled by calling Subscription Direct per the publisher's suggestion. Indicated they represented Preferred Renewal Service, and that I had missed the deadline to decline. Indicated they had my card # and read off a # to me.

They called me late one night, asked me my name, marital status, and my mailing address. After this they announced that I had been receiving multiple magazines through the past 30 months (I haven't) and that I now owed (AT A REDUCED PRICE) $59 every other month for the NEXT 30 months. (about 900 bucks, we are both students). Anyways, he cancelled his card if it continues we plan to go to a lawyer and have this fixed.
