Leave a CommentSome Tips to Avoid Telemarketing Fraud: It's very difficult to get your money back if you've been cheated over the phone. Before you buy anything by telephone, remember: Don't buy from an unfamiliar company. Legitimate businesses understand that you want more information about their company and are happy to comply. Always ask for and wait until you receive written material about any offer or charity. If you get brochures about costly investments, ask someone whose financial advice you trust to review them. But, unfortunately, beware -- not everything written down is true.Always check out unfamiliar companies with your local consumer protection agency, Better Business Bureau, state Attorney General, the National Fraud Information Center, or other watchdog groups. Unfortunately, not all bad businesses can be identified through these organizations. Obtain a salesperson's name, business iden***y, telephone number, street address, mailing address, and business license number before you transact business. Some con artists give out false names, telephone numbers, addresses, and business license numbers. Verify the accu**** of these items. Before you give money to a charity or make an investment, find out what percentage of the money is paid in commissions and what percentage actually goes to the charity or investment. Before you send money, ask yourself a simple question. "What guarantee do I really have that this solicitor will use my money in the manner we agreed upon?"You must not be asked to pay in advance for services. Pay services only after they are delivered. Some con artists will send a messenger to your home to pick up money, claiming it is part of their service to you. In reality, they are taking your money without leaving any trace of who they are or where they can be reached.Always take your time making a decision. Legitimate companies won't pressure you to make a snap decision.Don't pay for a "free prize." If a caller tells you the payment is for taxes, he or she is violating federal law. Before you receive your next sales pitch, decide what your limits are -- the kinds of financial information you will and won't give out on the telephone. It's never rude to wait and think about an offer. Be sure to talk over big investments offered by telephone salespeople with a trusted friend, family member, or financial advisor. Never respond to an offer you don't understand thoroughly. Never send money or give out personal information such as credit card numbers and expiration dates, bank account numbers, dates of birth, or social security numbers to unfamiliar companies or unknown persons. Your personal information is often brokered to telemarketers through third parties. If you have information about a fraud report it to state, local, or federal law enforcement agencies.
I just finished dealing with 321 872 3219 for the exact same thing. And just like 321 872 3219 - I am going to file a complaint on 402 892 0457 with the FCC, with the do not call registry, and I am going to send a letter to each state attorney and report each telephone number that constantly calls my phone number with their lies... These people are scam artist and are wasting my time!!!! NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I signed up for a free 1yr ****um Magazine subscription....few months later they call tell me that I owe $112 for a 5yr subscription because I did'nt cancel in 90 days. It was in the fine print he tells me "backloaded subscription " .Apparently ****um hired these s***bags to sell their ****py magazine.

I have been receiving calls everyday from an unknown number and letting it go to my voicemail. I finally got annoyed and when I answered they asked for Rich. I told them they had the wrong number and they ***g up. Later the same day I got a call from this number and it sounded like the same person, still asking for Rich. Not sure what they wanted, but I told them they had the wrong number and ***g up.
magazine rep. Told him I didnt want to receive magazines anymore and wanted to talk to supervisor and he ***g up........ I hate these **** people... I have been receiving magazines from someone and its not anything I wanted. I believe the music store in the mall....
I got a call from them today. It's absolutely a phishing scam! When I answered, the guy said he was with the magazine company and asked how I was. I said "fine, what magazine?" He said "I see you get ****m". That may have been a lucky guess, but it seems more likely that ****m sold my name and phone number to some list. The guy went on to say that he was calling to let me know that my subscription was paid through the next couple years and that I should decline anyone else who called trying to sell me more. Then he connected me with his supervisor to confirm my info. The supervisor said they have my billing info on file, and asked me to verify the expiration date on my card. She then asked what kind of card it is and I played along and said "It's a Visa". She made some small talk reiterating what the guy told me earlier. Then she said "I see your card s****s with a 4, correct?". I said yes (Visa cards always s**** with a 4). She said "ok, s****ing from the left to the right, read me your card number for verification."At this point I told her I wasn't going to give her my number, and suggested she read it to me and I would verify it. She refused saying she wasn't sure I am who I say I am. I told her that I don't know who she is either and that I wasn't going to give her my card information. She promptly ***g up on me.Bottom line people, I work for a financial ins***ution and see victims of this type of scam all the time. NEVER give someone your credit card number over the phone! A legitimate business will never call you out of the blue asking for it.
Goopgle FCC and file a complaint---it's easy
Got the same call from 402-982-0457 as noted above. I asked what magazines he was calling about and he said his screen was down and he couldn't tell me. I asked a***n what his name was and he said "Chris". I said "don't you have a last name?" He said "we all have last names" then ***g up.
Same as all the rest. Guy said I was receiving magazines (I am not) and that he didn't know what they were but it was "a bundle of 5" (I am not). They obviously work from a script since everyone else said the same thing. I tried to call back after the guy quickly terminated the call, but only get a recorded message about going on the Do Not Call List, even though I am already on it!
These people have been calling every day for the past week or so! I don't answer since I could tell from the caller ID it was no one I knew, so I thought I would look it up- an lo and behold, it is a scam. I'm on the 'do not call' list that you get on from the internet and have been for years, so what gives? Sure is annoying!
Got my first call from these jokers. I hope they get a horrible STI
I have received several calls a day from this so called "magazine company". I am getting really tired of it too! When I do answer they want to ask me 5 questions and then they say that they will connect me to a supervisor but that they cannot do so until I answer the questions. Then when I asked why she needed to know my age and occupation before I could speak to the supervisor I was ***g up on! This is definitely a scam!!!
This phone number, and whatever company this is keeps calling me, after saying several times that they have the wrong number. This IS harrasment, and the calls need to STOP. I work for a call center and 'No AF Phone' or 'Take me off your list' means DO NOT CALL ANYMORE! this is unbelievable, this is the dumbest scam, by far.
Same thing, wanted to renew my magazines. I asked them which ones and they didn't know! Told them I was recording the call and they ***g up. Reported it on the Do Not Call website. Go here and do the same: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2
Received several calls at home using the script described above by all. Same deal - these people are scam artists.
We have received countless phone calls from this phone number. The routine is exactly as described by other people. Definitely a scam all the way. I will call the New Hampshire Attorney General on this. Phone number that called is 4029820457.
I also have received multiple calls from this company, wanting to renew my magazines. When I asked which magazines, they couldn't tell me. I called the woman on this scam, and she argued with me! She told me that she did not have to tell me what magazines I needed to renew. When I said that I do not pay for my magazines with a credit card number, she stated that she " could save me on my monthly payments! " When I said I don't make monthly payments, she ***g up. SCAM!!!!
Called 5 times in the last 2 days - no message left.12/11/09 18:0612/11/09 19:0312/11/09 20:5212/12/09 13:0012/12/09 13:09I didn't recognize the number & I've never done business with anyone in Ne***ska (as far as I know), so I let the answering ma****e pick up.
This company called me twice. The first time I did **** up because I figured it was some type of promotion or offer. The second call they told me I've been receiving magazines and would like to update my info. I don't receive magazines so I asked if I'm paying for some could they tell me. He ignored my questions and told me I could talk to the supervisor at the end of the call. I said ok and he ***g up. What was that? Should I be concerned?

Scammers for sure! Report these people to your state Attorney General's office. They violate do-not-call lists and try to get credit card info over the phone. Log the calls and report each one!
Report the number to BBB and your states attorney general. These people are scammers who are trying to steal your info.
Just got a call saying I had signed up for a several magazine subscriptions and they wanted to know when I was going to pay the rest. I didn't sign up for them, so when she couldn't tell me how much I owed, I just told her to turn it over to a collection agency.
I got a call from this company asking if i received my magazines in good condition and on time. They were unable to tell me what ma***zines I subscribed to. The only information that they could provide was I ordered a package which containted 5 ma***zines, (they did no my address, name and obviously my phone no.) I told her that I don't subsrcibe to five magazines, she said she would make a note of it in there files and ***g up.
I have received repeated call from these "magazine companies." After telling four people I didn't have any at all and being ***g up on, I played them. I wen along, and answered all their questions, trying to figure out their scam. They didn't know which magazines I subscribed to. They didn't know how much I payed either. So when I told them my "drop in price to $29 monthly was an increase she was lost. Finally they wanted to verify my credit card info. She said they only knew the first four digits. Then only one, after asking how I was paying. 4 for Visa and it would be 5 for MasterCard. This is obviously a scam.
"Magazine rep." called but he didn't know what magazines we were getting (only his surperviser had access to that info). But he wanted to make sure no one else called and offered us to extend our subscriton for $3.99 a week (yes week not month). When I said most of our magazine are around $20 or less a year and that we don't have any magazines that cost that much he ***g up.
