The caller was a man and identified himself as being a person that deals with consumers.  He was asking if I had a credit card debt or about $3,000.00 or more and would like to negotiate a good interest rate.  Since the phone number is local and I have  caller ID, I asked the man where he was calling from and he mentioned one of the states somewhere in the south.  I proceeded and asked to be removed from his list.  When I retrieved the phone information from a search engine, I found out that the phone number is a local landline from the City of Campbell, California.
