I received the exact same call with an East Indian accented man stating he was calling from Visa and that I had a visa which gets points and because I'm a good customer with a good payment history I could choose from one of four free trips. He varified my address (which was correct) and he asked what bank I dealt with. I said if he was with Visa he should know that...then he said "I'm just verifying. I said RBC already feeling uncomfortable. When he next asked for the expiration date I said "no, if you are from Visa you know this info and should not be asking." He then wanted to know the expiratioin on my visa and I then said that Visa would never ask that info and I would not give that to him and ***g up. Reported this to Visa Fraud....do the same.
I got the same call tonight from 412-923-4565.I won a trip to Florida and two other places as well as $1000 spending for two weeks for 4 people.Thick accent, lots of background noise and he actually was cutting in and out.He said his name was Mike Thomspson, ya right! I'm in Winnipeg too.Well I was pretty ******. I did give some information. At the end of the call, he had to do a verification of my name and address. During that time I asked a question. Then after all that, he told me they had to do the verification a***n because I'm not allowed to ask any questions during that time. I'm only supposed to say yes or no!I pretty much knew it was a scam and knew I'd be calling Visa as soon as I ***g up.But I stayed on the phone to get as much info as I could about this scam.I called Visa and cancelled my card of course. But I'm not very happy with the response I got from them. They said they couldn't really tell me if this was legitimate or not! He said it was best to cancel the card, (no kidding). But he didn't ask for all the details of the conversation I had with this scam artist! I was hoping they would look into it, but I guess that is not their job.
I got the same thing at 5:18 pm. Man with a thick east indian accent said he was from Visa...then he said he was from mastercard 2 minutes later. I asked for the company name of who he works for. He said the Credit Card Head office, in toronto. Then he s****ed insulting me. I told him to remove my number from all of his scams. He said he would keep calling over and over. I asked for his supervisor,. he refused and said very quietly that he wanted to f*** me. He kept on with that line of disgusting BS until I ***g up.Don't give your info to this PoS, it's definitely a scam. I called the non-emergency police line, and they told me to call telephone fraud - 1/888-495-8501 or go to the website www.recol.ca. They're closed right now, but we can all call them at 8am tomorrow morning!
In Manitoba, I also just got a call, also East Indian accent, said his name was James, calling from Visa account services. He had my name and address, which is worrisome. I called my credit card security department to let them know, after I dialed *69 to get the number. 412-923-4565.
Just got a phone call from this number on my Manitoba land line. Same East Indian accent, trying to get me to do so****ing with reward points on my 'mastercard'. I don't have a mastercard and after not being able to understand him and getting very angry with him as I suspected it was a scam, he ***g up on me. I am currently on hold with my Visa company to report it, hopefully if enough people report it they will do so****ing about it.
They are ***n****g out to Portage. I let them speak with my 3 year old while I laughed in the background and then promptly call blocked the number.
Called me back a second time his number wasn't blocked. 204-480-9390"number is disconnected" when I called it.Linked to the carrier Rogers
Recognized the visa verification scam right away. Told the guy I would report him to the police and ***g up. He called back using caller id blocking and made some ***** threats and told me he would **** my daughter.
Does anyone actually do anything with this info? Is there people trying to catch this con artist? I would like to see results!
i looked on another "411" type website and people there claimed to have been called by this number also. I let the ma****e pick it up as i didn't recognize the number. No message. Although, others claim that the man calling is a scam artist trying to get credit card information. He commonly lies and "fishes" for info! BEWARE!
Doesn't that guy know that Winnipeg isn't in Nova Scotia?? lol
I just received a call in Winnipeg from this number (412)923-4565.....involved a man with a strong East Indian accent telling me that I had ac***ulated some visa reward points and won an all expenses-paid 2 week vacation. This reeked of being a scam, but just to get more infomation, I asked him which visa company he was with. He seemed to hesitate, and then stated "Nova Scotia Visa".....I think he was trying to imply Scotiabank but clearly did not know what he was talking about. When I told him I didn't have a visa and accused him of trying to scam me, he became very defensive and said "Well I have a record of you having a visa with us....how do I know that YOU'RE not lying??"Are you kidding me??? Since when do visa reps do that??? He got a mouthful after that.....I told him to never call me a***n and ***g up on him. Just to be safe I called Scotiabank to let them know that someone was scamming using their name. So annoying!!
I got a phone call from the above number (412-923-4565).He asked "Is this Mr. [lastname]?" and I said "Yes."He immediately ***g up. Maybe my "Yes" reply was too honest for him!! lol

tried to get visa # and information to award a "free" trip to orlando
getting frequent annoying calls from this number (I live in Ca***a) ... there doesn't seem to be a point to the calls as they are different each time ... sometimes claiming to be VISA/Mastercard (duh! consumers aren't that ****** ... we know that those 2 companies don't operate from the same telephone #) ... other times just ****ing up ... grrrr
Credit cards are legitimately asking for more info about your account to fall in line with the new legistlation. This guy (from India) is not pretending to be your credit card company and is asking for your SIN and other confidential information. DO NOT give him any info. If you are concerned about your credit card, call the number on the back of the card.
Same call and details as everyone else -- this was on Oct 28/10 to my land line in Manitoba. I let him prattle on for awhile but when I challenged him about needing my expiration date on my VISA he ***g up. I immediately called VISA customer service and they said they would pass it onto their fraud department. I also called the number (412-923-4565) and a recording came on and said it couldn't make the call and to check the number I was dialing. How do these scam artists get protected like this? I worry about older people, alone and not sure what to do. I hope VISA can put an insert in with their statements and tell their customers about this.
I received a call from an east indian male saying he was from some credit card place,as I didnt understand where... saying as a credit card holder i have been selceted to win a trip to the USA.... Told him I do not have any credit cards ,and how can i have won anythng if i dont own a Credit Card.?. He ***g up right away.. I wish he had not as i really wanted more info... like what country he is calling from and who the company is he worked for and his full name and ID..... call was from 412-923-4565. ... I wanted to chat and the Chicken ***g up on me...! lolDo they really think we are ******? I mean even if I did have a Credit Card I'd Never give it out to anyone over the phone ... Wow, its getting worse and worse this fraud..More awareness needs to get out there for alot of people that think maybe this is legit.. Too many people are being scammed and this is not right
Just got a call from an Indian guy, telling me he was from some credit card service. I said, what service? He seemed annoyed and repeated it. I still couldn't understand the company name, knew it was a scam and ***g up. Why would an American number call me about a credit card?
I just got a similiar phone call in Manitoba from the same guy. He said I won a trip all expenses paid trip to Florida for 4 people that can be used anytime in 12 months. He said it was special promotion from Visa and Mastercard. I told him that I don't use my credit cards. He had my name and said I know it's hard to believe but you have won. He talked very fast and was difficult to understand. I told him I didn't enter any contests and that I didn't believe him. He ***g up.
Got a call in Manitoba. A man with an Indian accent said he was calling from CIBC Visa and said I had won a free trip to Florida for paying off my account balance every month. He asked for the expiration date to verify and then he would send out the package for me. I refused and asked him to send the material in the mail to look at. He said he would, but first I'd have to provide my expiration date. I said I wasn't comfortable giving that information out over the phone. He then ***g up. I called Visa and said they were offering no such promotion.
i was not home but the # was on my phone so i phoned it an it was out of order.
