Leave a CommentJust got off the phone with the FTC about this number. Turns out that this is a definite SCAM. The person at the FTC told me that the IRS would never initially contact anyone by phone, that they would first send you a letter to let you know that there is a problem and only then to arrange a time that is good for you to talk to them. Don't worry, this is definitely a SCAM. Either file a complaint with the FTC, or just ignore the call.

Received a call this morning purporting to be the IRS. ***g up on them and did not call back....the IRS does not have personnel to answer questions let alone call us directly,
Scammers...falsely identifying themselves as IRS. Do not return these calls.
