Same thing here. Knew my name and tried to say 'hey'. I responded with 'hey, who is this?' and got no response.

Sent me a text. Said Hi Jesse. Knew my name... I text back who is Jesse and who is this? They said their phone was dying.... I called the number and it is some texting service that you can join. I just don't understand the point of this. Someone explain.

I recieved a spam text from this phone number. They new my name and when i inquired about who they were they said thier phone was dieing.
