Local citizens have reported receiving emails and text messages reference awards of stimulus monies and consignment boxes of upwards of "$5.5 Million US Dollars". These types of notices are SCAMS. The scammers are advising they are with the "USA Homeland Security" and/or the "US Government" and they are trying to reach you to deliver the funds. They request recipients to contact a delivery agent with a "needed fee to get the needed clearance" for shipment of the monies. They request you send personal information to an email address or text it to a cellular phone number to enable them to send the cash. The agencies referenced above do not contact persons in this manner. Always verify the authenticity of the contact. Scammers tend to promise money but request you send a fee of sorts up front before they will send the cash. We advise you to never give out personal or financial information to unknown requestors, and do not send money to anyone you are unfamiliar with. If ever there is a question of the validity of such a transaction, contact the said agency directly, your financial ins***ution, or local law enforcement agency.
