Do any of you who have worked there or are working there know Tommy Steer , or where he is living now?  He and his girlfriend Kwynn Leib owe us $3000 for past rent and then thrashed the place when they left.  If anyone knows where they are staying please post it.. If we had known all this we never would have rented to them. Lesson learned. But I also want to let anyone else know who may be thinking of renting to them to think twice- we regret it.

i actually work for this company currently... and i want them shut down... i just worked all week to get paid 40 bucks...  and i am sorry to all of those contractors that bought the ****py tools they sell... i actually felt bad selling a thermal temp gauge at an outragious price... if anyone can to anything... please do...  get them shut down.  i just found out i was being scammed cut it was actually on the local news the other night...  im so ****ed... and it has c****ed the way i act...  cuz ill be honest... i just s****ed but im good at it...  but i dont feel right... it has c****ed my personality in such a way that i cant bare.

My husband, son and I own a contracting company.  I answered the call from Atlas telling the caller I screen all calls.  Told him he could not speak with my son or husband.  He asked me if I shouldn't be off somewhere doin' dishes?  Then got really nasty and rude.  Atlas calls our company several times a week using harassing tactics.  Other contractors have received their harassing calls for years, I've been told.  Atlas should not be allowed to conduct their shady business practices that include harassing tactics,  abusive language and unlawfully withholding pay to employees and taking advantage of employees in a boiler room operation.They've got to be stopped.I urge Atlas employees, present or past, to file with your state and federal labor board.  (If you don't have a computer, use a computer at your local li***ry and have the libr*********ist you.)  I urge any and all who have complaints with these creeps to follow through with the following:1.  File a telephone harassment report with your local police or sheriff's dept.2.  Send a copy to the Tempe Arizona Police Dept.3.  Send another copy to the Arizona Attorney General's Office at 1275 W. Washington, P***nix, AZ  850074.  File a complaint with the Tempe AZ Better Business Bureau.  You may do this online.

And what a joke, Jay Thacker of Thacker Tool is no doubt working for these ****s, amazing with all the harassing phone calls you guys make you have time to response to the complaints filed a***nst you.

Great post Joe, I am also was on the inside of that operation.  One thing that does need to be clarified is there are legitimate operations that sell legit products (including tools) over the phone.  The operation you are referring to is a complete joke, the owner is a loser even though he is rich.  I agree completly with your post.  At the same time the rest of us should not get a black eye for what these guys do.Good luck and Glad to hear you got away from that enterprise.

Well, I happened across this forum quite by accident and I'm surprised that this guy and his crew are still out there creeping around.  I was really under the impression that Bill Rozakis aka Rose and his band of misfits like John Griffin (who was at one point his right hand man)would have been put down by now.I'm a bit saddened to learn that they are still ruining people's lives and inflicting good contractors with their ***nd of "hard nosed" sales tactics.I truly feel for those of you that are subjected to the barrage of calls trying to "tool peddle" a bunch of inferior, over-priced, overseas manufactured products via phone.  And, while the harassing calls are truly mean spirited and a major nuisance, the people I feel the worst for are the sales people.If you've ever seen the movie Boiler Room, you've seen the environment that these kids endure. I say kids, because that's what most of these guys are, regardless of how "tough" they try to sound on the phone.  Most are just out of their teens and in their early 20's, looking to make so****ing of themselves; looking for a place to be accepted; looking for camaraderie; I'll elucidate. (I'm also throwing some links in here that may help demonstrate better than my words - check them out if you like, or just read my text). Here's how it works on the inside:A young man answers an ad in the local paper looking for sales people and goes for the interview.  Of course the interview is nothing more than a sales pitch itself, as this operation requires fresh blood constantly.  It's a game of knowing that you need bodies and convincing the young kid that he's getting a great opportunity to make a ton of money.  The office, car out front, clothes of your interviewer, big desk, and everything else is cleverly designed to say, "Hey, look at what you can have." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvICN8DNMpY  Shortly after hiring, the "Green Pea" (this is what they call new "recruits") is slowly indoctrinated into the culture.  It's akin to a cult really. The Green Pea is made to work a split shift along with the rest of the crew since the business attempts to sell contractors as they are s****ing out for their day; working the East Coast (Blue Zone), to the Midwest (Yellow Zone), to the Mountain Zone (Red Zone), and finally the West Coast (Green Zone).  Since they are in Arizona which varies with DST from 2 - 3 hours behind the East Coast, an early s**** is necessary.  Those that are late to work are issued a check mark by their name on the volume board for every ten minutes that they are late, which, for the hourly****ociates, results in a deduction of a dollar off of their hourly rate, or, for those on straight commission, is a reduction to their percentage rate.  After working for 5 hours (or often longer) the staff is released for a few hours for lunch and perhaps a couple of hours of sleep.A few hours later then the afternoon shift s****s with additional staff.  Since they are near two Universities (ASU and Mesa) they draw in college kids looking for a part-time afternoon job.  The goal here is to slowly convince these kids to give up on college and live the good life, selling tools and making a ton of money.  And, some weeks you do, but mostly you don't.  You need to be kept poor enough that you can't go look for another job because your rent is coming due along with your other bills and you can't afford to be without a paycheck. However, you're encouraged to go out and spend your money on nicer clothes, gold chains and a car payment so that you feel like you're accomplishing so****ing and have nice things.  These things motivate you to sell after all, because you don't want to lose them and look bad in front of your coworkers.  Most often, you're never more than a paycheck away from losing those things or being homeless. What's insidious, is that the employees are told that they aren't really employees, but "Independent contractors" (1099's) even though they pass every criteria of employees as defined by the IRS. This is how they get around paying their staff that quit: they pay 2 weeks in arrears and you sign a contract stating that your last check will be held for 180 days a***nst any returned orders. They give you a bundle of paperwork to sign, and cleverly paraphrase and rush you through the the do***ent so that you don't look too closely and sign it without really reading it; most of these kids don't even notice the whole 180 day thing, and you're not given a copy. Defining you as a 1099 also means that you are responsible for your own taxes and are encouraged to "save receipts." "Say it was a business lunch," they'll tell you.  Those of us that were smart enough, actually did save money and paid our taxes, but I've heard that others weren't so lucky and ended up afoul with the IRS.  The only thing that matters is that this saves Rose a ton of money on taxes since he doesn't have to match your SSI and he writes off your pay as a business expense - paying a contractor to perform a needed function.The management style of Rose and his "managers" is aggressive, belittling, and manipulative.  From the outside you'd wonder why these kids stay and put up with it.  If you're not selling enough, the managers pull your chair and make you stand at attention while you try to dial and sell.  If you have outside friends or family, the long hours, comments from the managers, and the split shift work to erode that.  There are no sick days, there is no vacation, you work every Sa****ay, and you live in a perpetual fog of exhaustion.  There's no toilet paper in the bathroom - the female secretary keeps that in her desk, because if you're in there long enough to need toilet paper, you're missing sales and someone will come kick on the door. The coffee is purportedly laced with steroids and other things to keep you aggressive and wired. Your thinking s****s to c****e. Within a few weeks, you feel like a member of a secret society, and within a few months you feel that no one outside of the business can truly understand you. The whole thing is a study in group dynamics.  They've been doing it for a long time and are very good at controlling the penalty/reward cycle.  Before you realize it, you're in deeper than you know.  They become your surrogate family. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbIRedOqDwE&feature=relatedThis operation relies on the fact that Arizona is a very transitory state populated by a large percentage of non-natives, and they look for young impressionable kids who are ***dreds, or thousands, of miles away from a support system or family.  You are taught that the only way you're a man is to be aggressive on the phone and off.  Your family doesn't understand you, only this group of fellow salesmen do.  That guy doesn't want to buy? ***** him, call him back and tell him off.  He's too much of a **** to come to the phone? Verbally beat up his wife until he comes to the phone.  That's right, you're a tough guy.  You know quick comebacks and put downs.  You make that guy on the other end of the phone angry - you won. You're smarter than him.  Makes you feel superior; feels good to be powerful doesn't it?  That's right, people may have gotten the better of you in the past, but not now.  You're in charge.  You know how to talk fast and make the guy on the other end of the phone do what you want him to and buy.  If he doesn't buy, you harass him until he hides from the phone.  Yes, he's hiding because he can't match wits with you. He fears you; he can't deal with your superior s****s. Next call, joke about a gold plated Cadillac and pitch him First Aid kits.  Cut quan***y, press the sale, move to another item to relieve the pressure you're putting on him.  A nibble?  Put a question mark by that item and pitch another.  Go back to the nibble item and press a***n.  The guy wants you off the phone and tells you to send him the item.  Wrap him up.  Ah, feels good, you made him buy so****ing.  Walk up to the volume board and add that sale to your total - everyone rings the little bell that they have on their desk.  You're respected. It'll take years for them to become normal people a***n - if they get up the nerve to quit.I survived, became a better person, and look back with deep regret at the years of my youth that I lost, and the way that I treated people.  It left a scar on my soul that has never quite healed.  I did terrible things to people I didn't know from Adam and worse, to the people that I loved.  I treated my friends and family poorly, and I inflicted the same doctrines onto other new hires.  Now, years later, the aggression lies just beneath the surface I've built up over it.  I'm quicker to anger than I was before I worked there, put I swallow it.  I can be pushy and nasty at times.  I still feel the pull to be self righteous and superior, but I control it almost all of the time now.  It's like being a recovered alcoholic constantly feeling the pull of the addiction; a longing to make the other guy pay for ****ing me off.Hopefully someday this cycle will end when they close up shop.

I worked at this place for a week & a half and never got paid,they told me I had too wait 180 days to get my check it's been 7 months now and still nothing.I went in there the other day and some guy named Rob with tatoos all his body told me I wasn't getting a check.Who do I report these guys to?

W***ver the***** John Griffin is, ur a ******* if u are a real person and actually buy from them.  I worked there for a couple months and seen alot of paperwork.  No one has an existing account with them because they dont keep track of who they are calling.  For example, this guy Larry had an account with someone, but someone else from the office called him and told him off when he said he was busy, well Larry lost his acct.  These people are *****s, trailer trash, and no one should ever buy from them.  I worked 9hrs a day, getting harassed all day long, and there was always some execuse why they had to cut my pay in half.  This is a scam and please dont buy anything from them.

Not only is Bill Rozakis a criminal in disguise hes a ******. Anyone running across this message board should file their complaints as mentioned previously. In addition to your local law enforcement, complaints should be filed with the AZ Attorney General at WWW.AZAG.gov, with the Arizona BBB and with the harrassing calls department of your phone service provider. You can also register a complaint with the FTC, for violations of the do not call registry or under "other complaints" regarding their sales practices at www.FTCcomplaintassistant.gov.

I buy tools from these guys every month and love the service. I have never had a problem with them and they say these false complaints are from the compe***ors.

we need to actively go after these guys. i have filed reports with my local law enforcement, tempe az law enforcement, ftc,fcc,bbb. attorney general offices of az and nc. and i'm going after Sales Genie for providing my number. if they threaten you report it to the fbi.  does this sales technique ever work for you guys?  have you ever sold anything? apparently not since your employees seem to have trouble getting paid.  i hope you like prison!

Like many people, I have received obscene / threatening telephone calls from this number.  It is linked to Atlas Supply, Atlas Contractor Supply, Western Builder Supply, a**** others.It is a***nst the law to harrass someone by telephone.  The Tempe AZ police dept and Arizona Attorney General are aware of these unethical telemarketers.  The crime of telephone harrassment occurs in the jurisdiction where the call is received.  Telemarketers****ume you will find it too much of a hassle to follow through.  Please prove them wrong.  The following is the procedure recommended to me by the Tempe Arizona police.1.  File a telephone harrassment report with your local police or sheriff's dept.2.  Send a copy to the Tempe Arizona Police Dept.3.  Send another copy to the Arizona Attorney General's Office at 1275 W.
