will never leave u alone calls on Sunday to! BS
***king ****heads call constantly. I don't owe them a dime.
This call is from Portfolio Recovery****ociates, a bottom-feeding junk debt buyer running a (legal) extortion scam, trying to bully and intimidate people on its call list into giving it lots of $$$$$ on so-called "debts" it cannot and will not verify even belong to the person they are pestering. These so-called "debts" even if they were verified are so far past the statute of limitations, that w***ver may or may not have owned them, has long since been written off by the original lender, who got really generous tax credits on the losses. The amounts that Portfolio is attempting to extort from the unwary are somewhere in the neighborhood of twice whatever the original debt to the first party was, and they are about ten times what Portfolio Recovery paid for that particular line on the printout. They call from more than a ***dred different phone numbers, all of them out of the this sorry outfit's little shop in Norfolk VA, and if you complain to the Attoryney General's office in your state, they may be obliged to actually identify themselves in the caller ID on subsequent calls. If you make it clear you are not a good mark, and demand verification, this bunch of vermin is known for their propensity for issuing fraudulent 1099-Cs to the IRS. Then you will have to make complaints to the IRS, the Postal service (for mail fraud) and to the state Atty General for the fraud they are attempting to perpetrate. The really amazing thing about this is that it could be brought to a halt very easily by the Best Congress Money Can Buy. BTW, if and when you correspond with these bottom-feeding pond s*** at PRA, be sure to sent the letter by certified mail with return receipt requested. You will pay several dollars for the return receipt, and these ****** ***** will not return it, because they are special and have some sort of deal worked out with the authorities, based on the high number of return receipt requests they receive every day of the week, but you will have a record of the delivery anyway, via the USPS data base. Yes, they are bullies, thieves and ****s, yes they are trying to extort $$$$ from anybody they can bully into agreeing to pay them, but they are also some of the ******est people I have ever encountered. They have a business plan that involves calling thousands of times, for years, to a telephone that has never been answered, not once, in all that time. They have a lawyer who was obliged to correspond with me by the consumer protection bureau of our state's Atty. General's office. He wrote in September, 2010, that they had "decided to cease collection efforts" at that time on the unverified debt they were hoping would inspire me to send cash. Guess what? They have called 220 times in the two years since then.
Looking to scam people into paying outdated debts with expired statute of limitations. Don't agree to pay a cent. They bought the debt knowing it was unrecoverable but convince unsuspecting folks they are still obligated to pay, which in fact Is no longer the case.
