TAX SCAM
SCAM ALERT! Do not talk to this crook.
I only gave this guy my phone number and my name - he said that he was with the US Dept. of the Treasury and that there was a problem with my 2013 taxes. I told him that I'd rec'd a call like this a month or two ago and I had called the IRS and they re-assured me that there wasn't a problem with my 2013 taxes - he told me that I had rec'd incorrect information - that my name was on the list from the US Dept. of the Treasury and that there was a problem. I told him that I'd not rec'd a letter from the IRS - that the IRS doesn't make phone calls - he told me that I was incorrect - that he was calling on behalf of the US Dept. of the Treasury. I kept telling him that I don't have any problems with my taxes and that I'd wait for a letter from the Treasury Dept. because I'd been told that I didn't have any problems and that I believed that he was scamming me...he told me that I was incorrect, he wasn't spamming and that I'd hear from the Treasury Dept. via a telephone call (but, he'd remove my name/phone number from his list from the Dept. of the Treasury once he'd spoken with them about my case.) In the meantime, I'll be getting rid of the phone number that he called me on in the next day or two. Yes, I was told that if I didn't respond that I'd be appearing in front of the magistrate/grand jury. We'll see what happens
