Leave a CommentHow in the world did these people get my cell phone number? I didn't give to them. They got my checking account number and I don't know how, other than the subscription payment that I ordered from my grandson's school PTA fund raiser. BE AWARE OF THOSE SCHOOL FUND RAISERS!!!These people are so persistent. They keep calling me and I keep telling them they have the wrong number.I have reported them to the Iowa BBB and nothing has happened, and my lawyer has not gotten any response to his letters.
constantly calls, never a message, I will not answer any calls out of my contact list.or area codes.
Tonight was the first time they have tried calling me. I don't get a lot of phone calls, so I answered after the second ring and noone answered. They ***g up on me after my second "Hello?". No message left on voice mail either. Thank god for this site and google, now Ill be ready when they decide to bother me a***n.
WARNING...THEY ARE AT IT A***N..I JUST RECIEVED A PHONE CALL TO RENEW MY MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION AND THEY NEEDED MY BANKING ACCOUNT INFO..I RECENTLY CANCELLED MY CHECKING ACCOUNT BECAUSE OF THEM....
Person called saying he was just verifying some information then told me i had to speak to his supervisor then the supervisor asked for my credit card info and told me i had # payments i had to make. i tried calling them back to cancel but no response.
Keeps calling me to tell me I ordered a product and I NEVER DID!!!
Calling over and over trying to collect money for magazines we never ordered. Today, Chris, from Heartland finally told us our account would be turned over to collections after I got a little rude with him. We'll see if they will finally stop calling.
I just received a call from these idiots. We were gone on vacation last week and their number was on our caller ID 50 times.I answer the call. The guy s****s off saying I am calling to apologize for other calls you may be receiving about renewing magazines. Making it sound like that was their reason for the call then he asked to update my info like name, address, occupation, and age. Then he asked if I could stay on the line to let his supervisor know he was polite and doing a good job. The supervisor gets on asking if the guy was polite then said we're going to renew your subscription. Currently I have no magazines coming my way. I asked which one he goes mam you know which one. I asked him to tell me which one. He couldn't answer and was a little defensive saying he knows his job. I said tell me which magazine I am getting. He was silent then I laughed saying I currently don't have any magazines coming to me. Then he said so****ing and I ***g up. He did ask for my bank name as a general question. I said I don't give that info and I never said I wanted a renewal or a subscription to a magazine.
On July 23, 2009 I received a call from them also and they said this was the extension to the mag. subscription order that I had agreed to 5 years ago. I told them that I do not get these mag. any longer and they said that i would get the extended benefits now. I said that I did not want these mag. He kept insisting that all I had to do was complete the info. He kept mixing things up and repeating info that I had given him to make me believe that they already had this info. I ***g up on him and he kept calling back. I took the phone off the hook and waited for a while and then put it back on. He then called a***n. I told him no to his offer, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. I finally ended up giving him the info he wanted, because my husband has to go to bed early and this guy would not quit calling. I know this was ******, but he was driving me crazy and it was late in the evening. I try not to be rude to people and give them the same respect as I would like to receive. There was a pending amount in my banking info., so I went to my bank and cancelled my card #. I am still waing to hear if this person was able to get money from my account.
I am a senior citizen on a fixed income. They say that I owe 1197 dollars for magazines. I have contacted the Iowa State Attorney, on the advise of the BBB I filed a complaint with the FBI. I canceled my credit card and got a new one. Now they are sent me a letter saying I will recieve statements and they would like 299 dollar now, because I am late with that much.
this number calls my cell phone nearly every day. no vm left. i never answer, but i'm tired of the calls!
My call echos the same thing as these previous complaints, I did not give them any information ( other then I was receiving mags already and that they were paid for and that I was divorced and between the age of 18-80 ) but they were persisitant in getting my bank account number as well as my name.
was called and did not heare anybody on other end
Like Tricia, I got ****ered into paying almost $50.00 a month for 20 months in 2005. To my knowledge, I was done paying when the last several months they began calling a***n. I avoided their phone calls at first but decided to answer to tell them I wasn't interested. At first I was greeted by a nice young gentleman making small talk and asking me questions on what two magazines I like and what was my occupation. He then turned me over to his supervisor who insisted that when I purchased the magazines in 2005 I agreed to pay the 50.00 a month for 20 months a***n. I explained that I did not recall agreeing to the second part of the agreement and that I just could not afford the payments. He then got an at***ude stating that they are "just magazines" and that if I did not pay for them it would go to collections. He also has my bank account on file and will s**** taking the payments out of my account. First thing tomorrow, I'm going to close up the account and c****e my telephone number. I'd felt like I was being bullied. These people need to be stopped.
Woman called me from this number, stated she was from the "Publishers" that send me my magazines. Since I have had similar calls from this number in the past, I immediately s****ed yelling at her to NEVER call here a***n, and I ***g up. TEN SECONDS later, my phone rings a***n, and it's a guy from the same number. I didn't even let him speak, and told him if one more person from that number called me a***n I was contacting the police. I get at least 2 calls a month from them, it's so frustrating!
Can't get them to stop calling and even have sent written letters to stop but and they keep calling. I basically now don't answer the phone and hope with time they'll give up.
These people called to talk to an elderly relative and gave incorrect information about magazine subscriptions. He doesn't have any subscriptions and they attempted to renew the fictious subscriptions. It was very upsetting to him and he ***g up the phone.
These people called to speak to my wife. Will not speak to me. They called one night during dinner and got my wife. They asked her to verify magazine subscription info and now we are being billed $99.80 the first time and 49.90 a second time. How they had her CC number in the first place is beyond me. These people need to be stopped. The number that appears on ve on my CC statement goes to voice mail. I have left messages but never get a returned call.I have notified my CC company to investigate, as well as told them about the number of complaints on the web sites.
They called me to check my satisfaction with my "subscription" and to update my personal info, including my credit card, expiration date, and bank routing number. I don't have a "subscription" to any magazine. It's a scam.
These people scammed me too. I have to wait until they steal the money out of my account before my bank will do anything. These people need shut down. I've contacted the BBB also.
Has called my number twice a day for several days. When I tried to call back, I got no answer. I have submitted complaint to FCC and Attorney General
They tried to tell me that I was being charged anything and they just needed to update my records.

I avoided thier phone calls at first but decided to answer to tell them I wasn't interested. She then turned me over to her supervisor who insisted that when I purchased the magazines in 2005 I agreed to pay the 50.00 a month for 20 months a***n. THEY WON'T STOP CALLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i recieved a call from Heartland asking if I wanted to switch any current maganize subscriptions. Then I was transferred and was asked for my credit card information stating I owed 20 payments. And if I did not give my credit card info a***n my account would be turned over to collections. My original reciept show that I owe only 5 payments total. Additionally, they are calling at 11:00 pm eastern when the company supposedly closes at 10 pm.
two calls november 23 and november 26. There was no message or an answer when the call was returned.
They called saying I owed for 60 months of mags. hey could not give me the correct first 4 digits of a CC or the last four. These are scammers! **** up on them! They try scare tactics. Do Not fall for them!!!
keep calling no answer on other end no message left quit F'N calling
This company keeps calling several times/day and is very rude. I filed a complaint with the BBB years ago, and they're not supposed to be making contact. They are a scam for magazine subscriptions and it took a lot of work to get them to refund money.
They have a record conversation states i order mag but i didn;t and they are very very rude and they **** up if you talk back to them
They tried to get me to give them my credit card number. have called many times. They are rude and I think scam artists!
They keep calling me saying I own about $1000 for magazines I never received or signed up for. They even got my moms number some how trying to reach me. How can I get it to stop?
they tried to tell me i owed 900 ***dred dollars to finish out my magazine subscription then when i s****ed to ask questions they ***g up on me then i called them they picked up then ***g up a***n
Tried to get CC info to update account information...became very rude and angry when I would not comply. I closed my magazine account in 2004.
They have called my home numerous times, being rude to me and my family. They will not take no for an answer. I have complained with the BBB and have complained with the FCC, Iowa Attorney General's Office. These people will not stop calling. They will not say why they are calling and will not identify themselves. They want to talk to my husband, but won't talk to me.
I have to agree with the earlier poster about the BBB complaint and the Do Not Call List working. After being harassed by these guys filed a BBB complaint that also stated that the number they contacted me on was on the DNC list. They ignored it the first time when they replied to the complaint but I insisted I needed an answer to that or my attorney would be contacting them next. They dropped all my accounts and added me to their intenal DNC list per their response. Anyone who is on the the list needs to verify and file with the Iowa BBB to put these scammers out of business.
For everyone that has a problem with Heartland I would suggest filing a complaint at this site: https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/GetS****ed.aspxEvery time they call me now to deal with my 'delinquent account' I tell them to respond to my BBB complaint. They get uneasy when I do that. They are a bunch of scammers, especially one of their reps, Josh, who is really slow and has an annoying voice.
got a call from this number tonight on my cell phone. I only subscribe to one magazine and never give out my cell number on subscription forms, etc.
I HAVE BEEN GETTING CALLS FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED A PAYMENT FROM ME SINCE MAY. AFTER THAT PHONE CALL I CHECKED MY BANK STATEMENT AND IT SHOWED TWO PAYMENTS THAT WAS SENT TO THEM IN JUN AND JULY. A SUPERVISOR STATED THAT THEY WILL CREDITED MY MONEY BACK TO ME AND IN TURN WITHDRAW TWO MORE PAYMENTS. I AM FED UP. I HAVE PLACED A STOP PAYMENT ON MY ACCOUNT I HOPE THIS WILL STOP THEM.
They tried to get my wife to give them my credit card numbers when I wasn't home. The girl that called told my wife that I had promised to give them the information today. These guys are shady and need to answer for their business practices.
I fell for their initial subscription ploy over a year ago and thought I was almost at an end this year. I received a call from them in March to 'update' their records. Next thing I'm seeing double charges on my account and a subscription notice in the mail. The notice was mailed back to cancel the same day and I called the number they gave me to cancel but ***ody picked up. I canceled the card they were billing and immediately got a call from them the next morning stating that my account was past due. I declined to give them any other cards or update my address for their records. Since then they haven't stopped calling and I haven't stopped telling them that I do not need their services and will not be billed for magazine I haven't been getting (thats another issue). Since their initial call I have filed complaints with the State Attorney in FL, IA and the BBB in IA in regards to their unfair business practices. I suggest everyone with an issue with these guys do the same.

They call and ask for my husband and say they cant talk to me. Unless its medical, I believe they can talk to a spouse. They called me a b**ch and said they would not take my number of the call list when I asked. I have 28 calls from them in less than 2 weeks. STOP CALLING!
Heartland keeps showing up on my phone caller ID so I finally answered it tonight. He asked for my husband and I said he's not available but this is his wife. he said he would call back. So I asked what this was in regards to since they have called a total of 28 times in the past week. He said it was in regards to some magazines. I asked him to stop calling, to remove my number from their database, my husband does not have a magazine subscription, nor has he ever. All of our subscriptions are in my name or my kids. He said he owed them money and he would try back. I told him no - to remove us and he yelled so****ing at me and ***g up. I called the number back and it rang 27 times and then disconnected. BEWARE
Called tonight, thanking me for my subscription. "Mike" was new, and asked me my age, my occupation, and how long I'd been working in my field. He said I wasn't renewing anything and that I was already signed up, and they were just updating their records. He transferred me to his supervisor, "Rob," who asked me to confirm the expiration date of my Visa s****ing with "4." I said, "What Visa? I have several." He said, "The one s****ing with '4.'" I said, "I think they all s**** with a 4." He told me to give him an expiration date, and he'd see what his system returned. I told him I was on my way to work and didn't have my CC on me, so I couldn't verify. They're going to call back tomorrow, so I think I'll record it.
They call every week about magazine subscription that I have since canceled over a year ago. every time i keep telling them i've canceled, once i do they become extremely rude and **** up.
They call and then **** up when I answer, or do not let it ring more than twice.
I missed a call from these guys and they left on my answer ma****e "You **** ****, don't come here a***n" I'm going to try calling these guys back or hopefully they call when I'm home so I can speak to a manager cause i have no clue what they are selling and what company they truely are and those kind of messages are just un called for
I keep receiving calls from these "people". They **** up when my botfriend answers. Which makes a jealous man wonder. ******s. I am going to turn them into the BBB tomorrow. the number was 515-251-5316

This number keeps calling my home # but will not speak when we answer. Is there anyway to let me know who these people are? All information appreciated. Jacquee
billed me without my permission
I kept getting phone calls and never answered because I didn't recognize the # on caller ID. I finally answered lastnight and the guy said he was just updating files and making sure I was happy with the magazines I am getting. I said yes because I receive several and he made it sound like he was calling from the company I had purchased them from. He updated my address and asked for my credit card info. I asked why he would need it because my account is paid in full. He said he was new and needed to put his supervisor on the phone. His supervisor asked the same thing and I questioned it a***n. He ever read me the first few digits of my card #. I totally thought they were calling from the other company. Before getting off the phone I asked (at least 5 times) that my account was paid in full and that I wasn't being charged for anything. He****ured me that all they were doing was updating my address. I told him that I better not find my card # being used because I wasn't athorizing anything. He****ured me a***n that nothing was going to be charged. I looked at my checking account online today and found that they had charged me $99.80! I have no idea what for and when I called the number back I just getting an answering service. I am disputing the charges through my bank and closed the account. Please beware
This number is always on my caller I.D. I don't know who they are or what they want. They never leave a message. They better stop bothering me.
This company keeps calling me about magazines they CLAIM I ordered. I never ordered or signed any agreement/contract for magazines from ANYONE. They need to stop calling my home. The last thing I would spend money on is magazines and I never ordered any from these people.
I receive calls from this several times a day, at different times throughout the day and several days in sucession. I don't know who they are and they don't leave a message. If it is that important to talk with someone then leave a message, that is why I have a ma****e. I suggest they find so****ing better to do with their time than bothering people with harassing phone calls.
They have called 3 times in 5 days. They always call during the day when we are at work. They never leave a message, we just get a loud dial tone. One time it sounded like they slammed the phone down very hard. What is their problem? If you want to ask so****ing then do so in the message - if we can answer your question or we're interested then we'll call back, but when you leave nothing on the answering ma****e - well we have nothing for you either.
i was called by this number. they are scammers! Beware! they called me by my married last name--I have been divorced for 7 years and now use my maiden name. then they wanted to know if i was still using my discover card card --I cancelled a year and a half ago! then they wanted my checking account number! I said no and told them they were using the wrong name. i told them i pay for my magazines by mailnot on the phone! they ***g up on me when i gave them a hard time and would not give them any money information.
They just called me-using a name i do not go by anymore-i have been divorced for 7 years and they used my married name-i have been going by my maiden name for 7 years now. they referenced my discover card-a card i cancelled one and half years ago. then they wanted the last 4 digits of my bank account! i did not give it to them> i asked them what magazine they represent--they said up to 700!!!I kept asking what the point of the call was and they kept wanting personal information! they ***g up on me finally--guesse i was not helping out the way they wanted me to. watch out for these scammers!!
They call constantly asking for someone who does not live here anymore. I have told "the caller" everytime they call, and it hasn't stoped them from calling almost everyday for the last couple of weeks.
They are actually sending me magazines the i never ever purchased or ordered! Does anyone know if my credit is going to get messed up over this? I already cancelled the card but they sent me a letter saying that i owed $2000! and they would send me to a collections agency if I don't pay.
This company also called me and purported to be a company called Magizines, Inc.(whom I had received subscriptions from) altho they never said they were from Magazines Inc. they had information that should have only been known by Mag. Inc. they asked if I were satisfied with the magazines I was receiving and told me that if not, I could c****e to different magazines(this is the same thing that Magazines, Inc. had told me. I took it as a courtesy call and didn't think anymore about it until I s****ed receiving charges on my credit card(it was the same card that I had used with Magazines, Inc. how did they get the number, I am sure I didn't give it out). When I tried to call and cancel it, I received no answer. I am disputing the charges thru the credit card company and will close the card out completely if I have to.
I think these ****'s are in Urbandale Iowa and they're not called just Heartland Inc., but rather Heartland Communications Group, Inc. and their website is www.hlipublishing.com. Don't go off cussing them before you verify that 100%.
Asking personal questions. Asking for a person who no longer has the phone number. Told them to stop harassing phone calls and that the police would be contact if they called a***n
I received a call from 515-251-5316 a few minutes ago. I didn't recognize it but i have been getting in touch with lost family members so i answered. I spoke to a "rob" who was new to the job and I heard people in the back ground laughing like somebody was having a party. they told me that i was signe dup for an additional 9.99 a month 60 month subscription for some magazines. I did have a subscription through a legitimate company but my trial has expired and and i made sure to have my bank not accept anymore transactions from them. so when these guys call me. a Red Flag went up and i was passed to the "supervisor" who asked me how Rob was and if he was polite. i went along and said "sure he's aight" when then the supervisor switched his accent to a heavy southern accent. I told him that my subscription had ended and that i was not obligated to any more magazines, to which he replied that i was obligated and I had agreed to it via voice recording and that there's no way to fake your voice. I work in the Military and my previous job entailed with such type of scams. voices are very easy to fake once a sample has been taken. I got into a dispute with this supervisor and he kept harassing me and telling me that my card with the some random last four digits was being charged the amount. I knew so****ing was up because none of my cards had such digits but they told me they were taking legal action a***nst me to which i told him " you do that I will take legal action as well" What I want to know is how to go about reporting them when their number doesn't work if you try to call back or it tells you it's no longer in service.
Young lady from this company, Heartland called last night. She said she was calling to confirm some magazine order I (supposedly) made - asking me questions like my age and whether I was a female. I asked her what mag. subscription? She said she was new and she'd put her super on the line. Well, when he got on the line, seemed like all he wanted was my credit card number, especially my debit card. I told him if I had made a subscription he should already have it. He replied he was on a 'secure screen' and the number won't show til he types it in. I didn't know who or what I was dealing with so I told him to send me information and I'd look it over. He went from being real nice to real mean saying he going to turn me into collections. I told him do what you want, but you ain't getting my numbers! Yeah, I better call the bank to alert them....just in case - cuz he sure knew alot about me and when my debit card expires! Apparently he didn't have my number (hopefully)and that's what he mainly wanted. Scary!
This has also happened to me. They are trying to bill me about $500 for magazines I bought and paid for years ago. Someone should investigate this..........
They called saying that this is a courtesy call. They asked some questions about my magazine subscriptions and some personal questions like age, ***, and married. Then I was asked if I could talk to her supervisor and let him know how nice she was because she was new. This is when they told me I had agreed(with my original subscription over 3 years ago and it has been paid in full for at least a year)to pay so much a month to get another 5 years of 4 magazines. I told him that I had not agreed to another 5 years. I also asked how come the subscriptions are not billed together or one right after the other, instead of a year later. He said that was so the customer has a break instead of getting a bill 40 times in a row. After arguing with him for a few minutes, I told him to send me the info in the mail and ***g up. He tried calling me back. I am going to talk to my bank to warn them about any charges this company might try to make on my account.
They called saying that they were with Heartland Inc. They said that my late ***her had an account with them and in order to close the account they needed a copy of the ***** certificate. When I asked what magazines, they asked me "Do I really want to know" then danced around the question, never giving me an exact name. I'm not sure if they were legitamate or if they were just trying to get my ***her's social security number. I'm going to hold off and wait for a request in writing and let the lawyer deal with them.
I didn't pick up. And they didn't leave a message.
