YOU MUST REPORT THEM EITHER TO FTC.GOV OR DONOTCALL.GOV.If you get a recorded message when you answer - you can file complaints with DONOTCALL.GOV even if you are not registered on the donotcall list. Here is the info about the court orderFTC 1, Robocalls 0(Monday, May 24, 2010) At FTC’s Request, Court Stops Deceptive Telemarketing Calls Pit****g Credit Card Interest Rate ReductionAt the request of the Federal Trade Commission, a federal judge has put a stop to three companies’ allegedly deceptive telemarketing calls, including robocalls, that promised to reduce consumers’ credit card interest rates; frozen their****ets; and appointed a receiver to take control of the business.According to the FTC’s complaint, over the past two years, the defendants made or authorized calls to consumers nationwide, claiming that they could negotiate with credit card issuers to substantially lower the interest rates on the consumers’ credit cards. They also allegedly delivered prerecorded “robocalls” that consisted of urgent-sounding messages from “Card Services” or “Financial Services,” stating that consumers needed to “press one” to speak to a representative about their credit card interest rates. Many consumers believed the calls were from their credit card issuers.Consumers who signed up for the defendants’ services were charged from $499 to $1,590 up-front and promised their money back if the callers failed to deliver at least $2,500 in interest rate savings, the FTC alleged. Instead of arranging reduced interest rates, the complaint states, the defendants sent consumers instructions to pay down their credit card debts early, thus saving money on interest. Consumers who complained and demanded refunds allegedly were denied outright, got the run-around, or had a $199 “nonrefundable fee” deducted from their refund.“The last thing debt-ridden consumers need is to be deluged by illegal robocalls – especially when all the calls are offering is a scam,” said FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz. The FTC’s complaint alleged that AMS, Rapid Reduction, PDMI, and their owners violated the FTC Act and the Do Not Call and other provisions of the Telemarketing Sales Rule by:• deceptively promising consumers they could reduce their credit card interest rates; • misleading consumers about their refund policies; • illegally calling numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry; • failing to honor consumers’ requests not to be called a***n; and • making pre-recorded telemarketing calls to consumers without their express written consent. Nearly all such calls have been illegal since September 1, 2009 (see press release at: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2009/08/robocalls.shtm). U.S. District Judge Lonny Suko has issued an order appointing two receivers to take over the businesses, and freezing the****ets of Advanced Management Services NW LLC, doing business as AMS Financial, Rapid Reduction System’s [sic] LLC, and their prin****ls Ryan Bishop and Michael Rohlf, all of Spokane, Washington, and PDM International, Inc., doing business as Priority Direct Marketing International, Inc. (PDMI) of Bedford, Texas, and its prin****l William Fithian, of Colleyville, Texas. The FTC vote approving the complaint was 5-0. It was filed under seal in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington on May 10, 2010. The court granted an order temporarily barring the alleged conduct on May 10, 2010. The seal was lifted on May 11, 2010, the day the Commission served the temporary restraining order. The FTC acknowledges the****istance of Better Business Bureau of Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho, and Montana, and the BBB of Fort Worth, Texas, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service; the Bedford, Texas, Police Department; and the attorneys general of Illinois, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Washington, and West ******ia. The FTC also acknowledges that the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Secret Service are conducting a separate but parallel criminal investigation and that they executed search warrants on one business and one individual’s home when the FTC served the temporary restraining order.NOTE: The Commission issues a complaint when it has “reason to believe” that the law has been or is being violated, and it appears to the Commission that a proceeding is in the public interest. The issuance of a complaint is not a finding or ruling that the defendant has violated the law.Copies of the stipulated final order are available from the FTC’s Web site at http://www.ftc.gov and from the FTC’s Consumer Response Center, Room 130, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580. Keep getting a call from the same number, never left a message, now I know why.
*****SCAM!!!!!*****(HE CLAIMED HE IS WITH "CARD SERVICES" AND EXPERIAN GAVE THEM MY FILE) they called my cell and the caller i.d. said it was a new york number...so I answered it...the call was from card services, saying they can lower my interest rates...so I decided to mess with 'em a bit...since I don't even have a credit card...they asked me if I had any cards, i said yes, 2 of them...with 10k spending limits, with low balances...they were pretty interested at this point...then he asked me for my name(shouldn't he already know this if Experian "gave" him my file?) and current interest rates to pre-qualify me first, by****essing my interest rates, so i made up some bogus numbers..(12.9, or so****ing around there, being the highest), but i told him i want to know more about there "company" before i would disclose any info....i asked if this was a landline phone and where this caller was located, he told me he is in Florida, and the phone is sitting on his desk, (hmmmm.....sounds a little fishy, my caller i.d. said new york..) and then he told me that Experian had given him my info, (yeah right! i don't even have any cards, and i believe that giving out any info. on a customer is a***nst Experian’s code)....so i ask him if he can give me a physical address of the building he is calling from and he said its on broadway, and that’s all he knows...i then asked him to find out what his address was from his "boss", he said that his "boss" wouldn't allow him to do that.. he then told me that "unfortunately, i did not qualify"...and that he just wasted 15 min. on me and his boss was going to be very upset with him...so then i laid down what i had gathered... i asked him why my caller id said he called from new york, when he claimed he called from florida, he said that that’s the way the numbers are...(oh, that’s a perfectly good explanation...wow), and he said he had to go...but i stopped him and told him i have no idea how he even got my "info" because i don’t even have any credit cards, and that i was gonna call my local police dept. and tell them all of this and that i think they are totally bogus and f***ed up...he responded by asking me what our weather was like.... ***?...what kind of response is that? i then told him im definitely gonna call the cops on him, and his re****al was, "good, go ahead, and I’m gonna make sure you get a call every day", my response"bring it on, bro", and he ***g up, as everybody at my work laughed hysterically....because i had him on speakerphone....I think these are the same special people who have the automated caller call and say that they need your pin number and account number...wow, do they really think that people out there have a lower i.q. than them and also dropped out of 7th grade....the guy that called me sounded like he had down syndrome or was on so****ing, because he sure did answer my questions slowly, and very unprofessionally at that....well what else are we to expect from the result of a brother and sister procreating?
