Pretend you want to pay the next time they call, take the name and employee id no of the person you are speaking to, (and record the time of the call too-refer to all of this in your letter) and ask for the amount they are claiming you owe, who to make the check out to and the payment mailing address.  (Ignore all attempts to get you to make an instant payment by phone during the call and keep repeating that you will only pay by mail.  Also do not provide them with any personal information during the call at all.)  Then send them a letter in writing by certified mail denying the debt, directing them to CEASE and DECIST calling you at (whatever numbers), and to limit any future communications to written form only.  Keep a copy for yourself with certified mail no.  S**** do***enting every time they call after that.  Use your itemized phone bills as proof and keep them.  Then file a complaint a***nst them with the Federal Trade Commission for a violation of the fair debt collection act or whatever, and see if your state has a similar division where you can file a free complaint.  You may also google and find a consumer protection (plaintiff's side) attorney and see if he will sue them for you and then they will owe YOU money.  Each call you get after they get your letter is a violation.  At some point, rather than let the call go to voice mail, you can tell them you filed complaint a***nst them with the FTC for violating the cease and decist letter if you want to.  The calls should stop.  This works for any creditor whether you owe them or not.  If you inform them IN WRITING (not ****ly) to cease and decist contacting you on the phone or at work, they must limit all future contact to written form by federal law.  See Fair Debt Collection Act info on FTC (federal trade commission website).  Also check state law consumer affairs websites for info on stopping collection calls.

Got a call from a man named Tony Hernandez saying that my wife needs to pay for a cash advance that she got back in may of 2009 for 1,500.00 and that if we did not pay that she was going to the big house. we asked for information about the company she supposedly got the cash advance from and they would not give it they keep calling every morning before 8:00 a.m. and we are tired of getting these phone calls

These people are not debt collectors, they are scammers, harrassing people for money they don't even owe.  I have been getting calls from them all week at work, it's so annoying, this number is also linked to 081-067-6161. They are threatening to sue me, told me I needed to be in court at 11am on the next day in California I was being sued by the state of California for unpaid debt and check fraud!!!!!  One guy (Mark Anderson) mentioned so****ing about Cash Connect which is an ATM funding company. Now I'm getting calls from Alan Parker both of whom are not american, speak very bad english.  It's going to give me a ****** if they don't stop, but dont' know how to stop them!
