Comments say calls from this number are "legal action" and "immediate arrest" threats unless they receive money from person called. I get calls almost every morning with the Caller ID "Out of Area." They are always totally anonymous when checked with Beenverified. No information. Not even phone company. The phone numbers c****e from call to call. This is legal threat scam. Probably multiple scams with anonymous phone company carriers. Why do phone company carriers cooperate with anonymity feature requested by customers, especially anonymity of the phone company carrier? Why isn't there government legislation by Congress to regulate anonymity, including checking phone numbers with granted anonymity to see what they are up to, justified by established su****ions of scam when this anonymity feature requested and granted by phone company carriers? The majority party now in power in both the House of Representatives and the Senate are not doing anything else important during the present administration. Write to your congressmen and senators. They all have web sites where you can contribute suggestions, information, comments, etc., online. If they don't, maybe that should be a suggestion either by phone or letter. Anyway, it is a good policy to not answer numbers showing anonymous Caller IDs such as "Out of Area" and "Unknown Name" or just "Unknown." They often ring for a long time because that is successful for them, as it wears down many call recipients who finally pick up. Don't do it. There is always a reason for anonymity and usually it is not good. Better still write down the caller number or use *69 to find out what number just called you. Best, if you know how, to block the number (though these scam callers have endless often randomly generated phone numbers granted by cooperating phone company carriers who just want to increase their bottom line profits, even at the expense of gullible threatened victims who are their honest customers.
