Leave a CommentThis number has called me three times - never leaves a message & when I call back it is always busy.
Called twice in the last few days. I have not had any idea who's calling.
This phone number is from Great Lakes EDU a totally unethical, bogus place. Please take the time to file a complaint with the FCC.
Call for another person's address and phone number saying I am a reference they used.
unknown and unwanted caller -someone please pull the plugs on these ****s -unauthorized call to restricted, unlisted number
Calls and ****s up
Call and blank voicemail.
Call and ask for other person's address and phone number saying I am a reference they used.
Caller asked to update my daughter's information. I was contacted because I "was listed as a reference." Of course, I did not release any information.
Caller ID indicated Wisconsin call; left no message.
Called today and a few days ago and asked if I know some person. This phone must be disconnected.
This is Great Lakes Higher Ed. They call constantly trying to update mailing info for a student.
On call #1, I didn't pick up since I didn't recognize the caller ID; they didn't leave msg.On call #2 (a few minutes later), caller left a slightly garbled msg, saying my DH had been used as a ref for a person (a coworker of his) and they were trying to update their addr and phone number for that person! ***, why would I give out such info on a third party?!)I erased msg, did reverse lookup online for the number, found it registered to a landline in Wisc (?)... so Googled the number itself to find this page and similarly annoyed recipients of such a call.Since finding this page (thanks WhoCallsMe !), if they call back a***n, I will give them "a piece of my mind" about this scam!
I got a call from Great Lakes yes****ay regarding a young man we gave a personal reference for. This AM someone from this number who would not identify themselves called for my husband, would not leave a message. We are both retired, no student loans past or present so it must be for the same young man we gave a reference for. Guess that's what happens when you give a reference....
The biggest disappointment to me is, I thought it was a job opportunity, or at least a scout for post-grad students calling. I can't return calls by the time I get home from work. It was really worth the 15 seconds it took to google the id and find out that I'm not the only one scrat****g my head.
FYI, the additional f in the caller ID was my bad.... or was it???
I do believe that Great Lakes is a dummied-down AI search program for students with loan debt. My wife (a.k.a., a reference) got 2 calls on our (same phone number) voice mail after they tried contacting me to update my information. HELLO, you got my phone number, either-wise, you wouldn't be calling. lol Anyway... yeah... they are a bank in search of your most current info to begin billing cycles. Fortunately enough for me, I've only experienced 1 day of idiocy from these people... so far.
Great Lakes Higher Education. They take the addresses from the school, so if the school isn't updated, neither are they. Just update information at your school.
They called me 5/20/08.. I didnt answer in time, no message. I called back, and didnt get an answer. (the call was made to my cell phone)
They called me and ***g up before I could answer and left no message. I'm not sure why they would call me. I'm current and up to date on the student loan I have through them.
This is indeed Great Lakes - a student loan company, and a real pain in the a**. These people have been told twice now that the person they are looking for no longer has this number. They're so desperate to locate this person they keep asking if we know them! They have promised to stop calling and take our number off their list, only to call a***n. This is what you get for trying to be nice to debt collectors. The Cease and Desist letter went out today.
i keep getting the call- i also have a loan with great lakes so maybe that is what they do when you get close to time to s**** making student loan payments
they called my friend and left a voicemail saying they needed to verify my info. if it's great lakes it's student loans i know because i have student loans with them. you call the number back and it just rings.
Called my house 12/26 4 times.. the first two times they ***g up after the 2nd ring. The second 2 times, I ***g up on them during the first ring. They gave up for the day after that.
Its actually getting to the point where I am going to look into prosecuting this company. They call me numerous times a day even when I told them I was on the Do Not Call registry
They kept calling here and not saying anything when I answered. Ill****ume its for student loans too because they always target my DH
I believe that this is for Great Lakes Higher Education. Its for student loans.
Left message saying I was named as a reference by my daughter and they would like to update their files. I did not return call.
Suspect this is a collections agency, but could be wrong. Woman called my cell knowing my full name and left a message asking me to update my ex-boyfriend's mailing information because I was listed as a "personal reference." Caller identified self as being from the Address Department of Great Lakes, a company I suspect doesn't exist as numerous attempts to find contact information were fruitless.
